Cue: Music Theory Drawing

Turn drawings into melodies

Free · In‑App Purchases · Designed for iPad. Not verified for macOS.

Draw a line. Hear it play. Cue is a drawing instrument. A playhead sweeps across the paper on a loop, and every line it crosses sounds a note. High on the page is high in pitch, left to right is time. That's the whole idea — your drawing is the score. No notation, no piano roll, nothing to learn before you start. HOW IT WORKS • Draw a stroke and it plays on the next pass • Draw a second stroke in another colour and they harmonise where they cross • Hold a line flat and the note sustains instead of repeating • Tap dots on the drum inks for a beat • Pick a key, scale, tempo and grid — the drawing re-pitches itself to match EIGHTEEN INKS, EIGHTEEN VOICES Every ink colour is a different instrument: Keys, Bass, Pluck, Lead, Bell, Pad, Harp, Choir, Glass, Wood, Reed, Bloom and Drone, plus Kick, Hat, Clap, Tom and Rain for rhythm. Strokes overprint where they cross, the way two risograph passes would. Recolour any ink and reorder the strip to suit the way you work. DRAW WITH YOUR OWN SOUNDS Record up to ten seconds through the microphone, or import any audio file. Cue trims the silence, normalises it and turns it into an ink you can draw with. Choose melodic, so it repitches up and down the page, or one-shot, so it fires as recorded like a drum. Your voice, a door slam, a guitar — anything becomes an instrument. TURN A PHOTO INTO A SONG Point Cue at a photo, tap the thing in it you want to hear, and its outline becomes the melody. Cue builds an arrangement around that line on device — bass, harmony, pulse and drums — then hands it back as ordinary strokes you can erase, recolour and redraw. Nudge it with a tap: Calmer, Brighter, More rhythmic, Simpler, More spacious, Surprise me. Ask why it sounds the way it does and it will tell you. Your photos never leave your device. MADE FOR APPLE PENCIL Full pressure and tilt at the highest sample rate, palm rejection, hover preview with the note name under the nib, double-tap and squeeze support, two-finger undo, pinch to zoom. Ten papers with real grain, or use your own photo as the page. Works in portrait and landscape on iPhone and iPad. SHARE WHAT YOU MAKE Press your loop to video in 9:16, 4:5 or 1:1 at 10, 15 or 30 seconds, with an optional intro that inks the drawing on behind the playhead. Save to your camera roll or share the print as a still image. Privacy Policy: https://cuemusic.ink/privacy Terms of use: https://cuemusic.ink/terms
