Mark up a web page. Simple MarkUp numbers each change, captures the screenshot, and writes the brief you hand to your AI. Mark up a web page. Simple MarkUp is built for working with an AI: it turns what you point at into a brief the AI can act on, so you spend less time explaining and more time getting changes made. SPEND LESS TIME EXPLAINING Describing a change often takes longer than making it. "The third button in the header, the one with the thin border." Point at it instead. Simple MarkUp records the element you marked and the note you wrote, so the brief names the thing you mean, and the screenshot shows it while it's on screen. Fewer rounds of "no, the other one". ASK FOR TEN CHANGES AT ONCE Every change is numbered, in the brief, and on the screenshot wherever its number is in view. When your marks don't fit on one screen, Simple MarkUp tells you how many are outside the screenshot, and the brief says which numbers were in view, so you can scroll and capture the rest. Hand over the whole list, work through it one at a time, and tick them off as they land. No re-explaining what number four was. FIVE TOOLS A numbered callout marks the element you click. A highlight captures the words you selected, not just a coloured box. An arrow points, with its number at the tail so the tip stays clear. A rectangle frames a region. A text label writes a short note onto the page itself. Notes go into the brief, and show beside the page in the marks panel; your marks there are in the screenshot while the panel is open. WORKS FROM THE KEYBOARD AND WITH VOICEOVER Almost everything works without a mouse. Press ⇧⌘M to open it, then ⌃⌘M for a list of what you can mark on screen: headings, paragraphs, list items, images, links, buttons, fields and other blocks. Move through the list with the arrow keys — past its end, the page scrolls on — and press Return to mark one whole block. Drawing an arrow, highlighting part of a line, and framing a region of your own choosing each need two points, so they need a mouse or trackpad. Notes, the marks panel, Copy and Export all work from the keyboard too. With VoiceOver on it works the same way, using VoiceOver's own keys: VoiceOver names every tool and control, and reads each mark from the marks panel. WHAT YOU GET Two files. An annotated screenshot, and a markdown brief listing every numbered change: the element it points at, any text you highlighted, and the note you wrote. Copy either to the clipboard, or export both into a folder you choose. Every export is a new pair, named for the moment you made it, so an earlier one is never overwritten. WORKS WITH ANY AI The brief is plain markdown and the screenshot is a plain image, so they paste into a coding assistant, a chat window, a ticket or an email. Simple MarkUp doesn't talk to any AI itself. It makes the brief and hands it to you, which is why it works with whichever one you use — and Simple MarkUp itself never sends anything you mark up anywhere. IT STAYS ON YOUR MAC Simple MarkUp has no network code in it — not in the extension, not in the app. No accounts, no analytics, no telemetry, no third-party code. It reads only the page you switch it on for, and only while it is on. A note is typed into the page you are marking up, so that page can see, and interfere with, what you type there. Your marks clear when you quit Safari, or in a Private window when the tab reloads or goes to another page; a site that switches pages without reloading keeps them. REQUIRES SAFARI After installing, turn Simple MarkUp on in Safari Settings → Extensions. Press ⇧⌘M or click the toolbar button to start marking up.
