Nine windows, three lullabies, and a parrot on the roof who cannot sleep either. Tap the lit ones in time and the building drifts off, one flat at a time.
In an old apartment building, someone is always awake.
Up on the roof lives a parrot who has learned every song that drifts through the thin walls. Every night it sings a neighbor's lullaby and puts them to sleep, one flat at a time. It just doesn't have a lullaby of its own.
HOW TO PLAY
A window lights up when a neighbor is tossing and turning. Tap it, and the song reaches them. That's all there is — nothing to memorize, nothing to count.
THE SONG PLAYS ITSELF
The lullaby carries on whether you tap or not. Each window lights up just before its note, so the music tells you when to look.
THE NIGHT GETS LATE
11 pm, midnight, 1 am… every time the song comes around it gets a little faster, and one more instrument joins in: the left hand, then the cello, then the strings. Last until midnight and the neighbor falls asleep. The parrot always nods off last.
YOUR NEIGHBORS
Brahmsy in 302, a sparrow who moved in today and can't sleep in a strange room. Pachelbelle in 201, a flamingo who has only ever sung Canon at other people's weddings. Beethowl in 103, an owl who keeps a light on all night while everyone else needs the dark. Each one leaves seeds to thank you, enough to welcome the next neighbor in.
