The EU AI Act labelling duty applies since August 2026. LabelAI places the official EU icon visibly on the image and writes the disclosure into the metadata.
Label AI-generated and AI-modified images correctly, one at a time or hundreds at once. LabelAI places the official EU icon of the European Commission clearly on the image and also writes the disclosure into the file in machine-readable form. Everything runs offline on your device.
WHY
Since 2 August 2026 the transparency obligations of Article 50 of the EU AI Act apply. Anyone who publishes AI images that could appear real must disclose it. The European Commission's Code of Practice describes how: with the acronym "AI", clearly visible, in the top right corner, recognisable on any background.
VISIBLE
- Official EU icons "AI GENERATED", "AI MODIFIED" and "AI" in their original geometry, proportions never changed
- Automatic colour choice for the best contrast, with a warning when contrast is too low
- Minimum size so the label stays legible even in small images
- Optional note "What was modified?", for example "Furniture added virtually"
- Custom labels possible, with a clear notice that they are used at your own risk
- Optionally without a visible label, with the machine-readable marking only
MACHINE-READABLE
- IPTC Digital Source Type, read by major platforms and image software
- Optional AI system, version and alt text for screen readers
- Signed transparency record with timestamp: changes to the image or the marking are detected, metadata added by Photos does no harm
- Existing camera data is kept, location data can be removed
