Strike Weather
Radar, rain alerts, forecasts
Free · In‑App Purchases
New in 1.5: Strike Weather on Apple Watch, burn bans on the radar, the UV index, Lock Screen widgets and Strike+. The forecast, alerts and warnings stay free.
Strike Weather is a private, no-nonsense weather app for iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch that shows what's happening now and what's next.
YOUR DAY AT A GLANCE
A live sky that matches the conditions, the temperature, a plain-English summary, a 48-hour chart of temperature, rain, wind, humidity or UV, and up to 10 days ahead. Tap any day for its hours, wind, UV, rain and sunrise and sunset.
RADAR, TWO HOURS BACK TO A WEEK AHEAD
Your nearest NEXRAD radar site, or a wide-area mosaic covering the US, Canada and Germany. Scrub back two hours of real radar, look an hour ahead with an on-device estimate, then out to a day or a week. Add storm cells, warnings, hurricanes, lightning, wildfires, flowing wind, smoke, satellite clouds or burn bans, and star your favorites.
BURN BANS
Counties under a burn ban are shaded on the radar in Tennessee, Texas, Florida, Oklahoma, Mississippi, Arkansas, Washington and Wyoming, and a reminder shows under the forecast when your place is in one.
ON YOUR WRIST
The temperature, rain starting soon, the next hours and the week on Apple Watch, with complications for your watch face.
RAIN ON YOUR LOCK SCREEN
A Live Activity shows rain or snow on your Lock Screen and in the Dynamic Island whenever it's happening or about to start.
WIDGETS
Home Screen widgets with a sky that follows the weather, a warning banner and a next-hour rain strip, a radar widget, and Lock Screen gauges for the chance of rain, UV, wind and sunrise and sunset.
KNOW BEFORE IT RAINS
A banner says when rain or snow will start, how heavy it will be and how long it should last. Rain alerts can notify you 5 to 30 minutes ahead.
TIME MACHINE
What was the weather on your birthday? Pick any date back to 2001 and see it hour by hour, next to today.
EVERY READING, EXPLAINED
Tap a reading, from Feels Like to UV and Pressure, for a plain-language explanation and a chart.
ACHIEVEMENTS
A trophy button lists achievements to unlock as you explore. Some are hidden.
YOUR WEATHER SOURCE, YOUR CHOICE
Automatic uses Apple Weather, and the official service for your country (the National Weather Service, Environment Canada, DWD, SMHI or FMI) takes over if it can't be reached. Or pick one yourself, or MET Norway, or bring your own free Tomorrow.io, OpenWeather or WeatherAPI.com key, kept in your Keychain.
SEARCH ANYWHERE
Any city in the world, with favorites and your recent places.
PRIVATE BY DESIGN
No account. No ads. No analytics or tracking. Your location goes only to the weather and radar services you use. Your settings and favorites sync through your own iCloud.
STRIKE+
Strike+ adds burn bans, Strike Weather on Apple Watch, the rain Live Activity, the radar widget, the Lock Screen gauges, Time Machine, more map layers and experimental features, for you or your family, monthly, yearly or once for good. The forecast, alerts and the radar's warnings stay free.
GOOD TO KNOW
- Radar and warnings cover the US; the mosaic also covers Canada and Germany; lightning and satellite cover the Americas.
- The one-hour radar look-ahead moves existing rain; it can't show storms that haven't formed yet.
- Burn bans come from each state's published map, which can take a while to catch up. Check with your county before you burn.
- Rain alerts, the Live Activity and widgets are best effort: iOS decides when they can run.
- Strike Weather is not a substitute for official warnings. In an emergency, follow your local authorities.
DATA SOURCES
Apple Weather; National Weather Service and NOAA (radar, lightning, satellite, storm cells, warnings, hurricanes and models); US EPA (UV); Environment and Climate Change Canada; Deutscher Wetterdienst (through Bright Sky); SMHI; Finnish Meteorological Institute; MET Norway (CC BY 4.0); NASA POWER; NASA FIRMS; state forestry agencies and the Bureau of Land Management (burn bans); Tomorrow.io, OpenWeather and WeatherAPI.com with your own key.

Introducing Strike+, a new Burn Bans layer on the radar, and Strike Weather on Apple Watch.
- New Strike+, for you or your whole family, monthly, yearly (with a free week to try it) or a one-time lifetime purchase: burn bans, Strike Weather on Apple Watch, the rain Live Activity, the radar widget, Lock Screen widgets for the chance of rain, UV, wind and sunrise and sunset, Time Machine, the radar's wind, smoke, wildfires and satellite layers, experimental features, and the Supporters page. If you had Strike Weather before 1.5, you keep the Live Activity, the radar widget, Time Machine and those map layers without it for three months. The forecast, alerts, the Weather widget, UV and the radar's warnings, storm cells, tropical storms and lightning stay free. Find it at the top of Settings.
- New Burn Bans layer on the radar: counties with a burn ban in effect are shaded red, with the date it began where the state gives one. Tap a county for details. When the place you're looking at is in a county with a ban, a small reminder shows under the forecast too. It covers Tennessee, Texas, Florida, Oklahoma, Mississippi, Arkansas, Washington and Wyoming for now, the states that publish their bans online. The bans come from each state's published map, which can take a while to catch up when a county starts or lifts a ban, and a city or fire department can have its own rules that aren't shown. Check with your county before you burn.
- New Apple Watch app: the temperature and conditions where you are, rain or snow starting soon, the next hours and the week, without your iPhone nearby. Your home address and favorite places sync from your iPhone.
- New watch face complications: a temperature gauge, a rectangular one with the day's range and rain starting soon, a corner one and an inline one.
- New UV index in Conditions: how strong the sun is now and how high it gets later, with when to protect your skin. It's also in The Week, on the Weather widget and on Apple Watch.
- Automatic now uses Apple Weather first everywhere. The official national services take over if it can't be reached, and you can still pick one in Settings > Weather Data.
- The Week now goes out 10 days with Apple Weather, MET Norway, DWD, SMHI and FMI. Swipe it to see the rest.
- The hourly chart now goes out 48 hours. Swipe it sideways for the day after, and use the buttons under it to see rain, wind, humidity or UV instead of temperature. The numbers are written along the line; tap Values to hide them.
- Something new at the top of the weather page, for days when the forecast here isn't far enough.
- New for Strike+ members: turn on Experimental in Settings > Advanced to try features still being tested. The first is Strike Select (beta), a weather source that averages the official national forecast, Apple Weather and MET Norway, and fills in what any one of them leaves out. Every source it uses is credited. Also in Experimental: Ask (beta), where Apple Intelligence answers your questions about the forecast, radar, burn bans and past weather, on your device, with the forecast card to match. Ask (beta) needs a device that supports Apple Intelligence.
- Bug fixes and performance improvements.
