Floodway shows live river gauge readings from every gauge in Australia, read against the Bureau of Meteorology's own flood classes — minor, moderate, major — so a number means something before you have to think about it.
Built for the people who work the land rather than only live on it: the ones with a paddock, a pump, or a crossing between them and town.
WHAT IT SHOWS
• Live levels for every gauge, with how old each reading is. A height with no timestamp is the most dangerous thing an app like this can show, so the age is never separated from the number.
• The whole river as one picture — every gauge from the top of the system to the bottom, each drawn against its own normal, so you can see a rise moving down the catchment instead of reading fourteen numbers.
• The record: past floods, how high they got, and how long water has actually taken to travel between any two gauges.
• A map of every gauge, and the ones nearest you.
ALERTS
Switch on a gauge and Floodway tells you when it crosses a flood class, and again when it drops back. During an event the level sits on your lock screen as a Live Activity and keeps itself current.
Water on its way from upstream is the part nobody else publishes: when a gauge above you starts to rise, Floodway says it is coming and roughly when it has typically arrived — measured from past rises on those two gauges' own record.

Every gauge, every river, every chart and the whole record are free, and will stay free. The free tier of alerts covers two places.
Pro raises that to every gauge you want to watch, and adds the upstream arrival and expected-peak notifications. Monthly or yearly, and it pays for
the part that costs us something to run: watching the record, hour after hour, for the rise that is on its way to you.
Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the period ends, and are managed in your Apple Account.
HONEST ABOUT WHAT IT IS NOT
Floodway is decision support, not an official warning service. Always follow Bureau of Meteorology flood warnings and your state emergency service's directions.
Gauges fail, feeds stall, and a gauge that has stopped reporting is marked stale rather than hidden. Readings are published by the Bureau of Meteorology, state water agencies and gauge-owning authorities, and the attribution appears with every reading.
