One proverb every morning, with its meaning in plain words. It takes a minute to read.
Dicton gives you one proverb a day in your own language, with a short meaning in plain words. It takes under a minute to read, and you can save the ones that speak to you.
ONE PROVERB, EVERY MORNING
The same proverb for everyone on the same day, chosen from a catalogue of real sayings in your language. Each one comes with its meaning and a theme, on a screen that shows nothing else.
YOUR LANGUAGE, ITS OWN PROVERBS
English and French each have their own catalogue of native sayings. Nothing is translated, so French readers get the proverbs French speakers use.
KEEP THE ONES THAT STAY WITH YOU
Save a proverb in one tap and find it again later. Share any proverb as a clean paper card in two taps.
DESIGN
Ivory paper, charcoal ink and a serif made for reading, with a dark mode for the evening. There is no feed, and no streaks or points to keep up with.
AN OPTIONAL MORNING REMINDER
One optional notification in the morning with the day's proverb. Turn it off whenever you like.
DICTON PLUS
The day's proverb is free every day, for good. Dicton Plus adds a few extras, bought once:
- Browse every proverb by theme, and search the whole archive
- Unlimited saves (3 with the free version)
- Every color for your share cards
Plus is a one-time purchase, not a subscription, and you can restore it on any device with the same Apple account.
PRIVACY
There is no account and there are no ads. Your saved proverbs stay on your phone. Dicton only keeps anonymous usage and crash statistics to fix bugs.
Ratings & Reviews
- This app hasn’t received enough ratings or reviews to display an overview.
Each day now brings a new theme, instead of staying on the same one for almost two weeks. The Enough theme is now called Moderation, which says better what it is about.
