Flip-a-Tyrant! is a fast satirical arcade game about the eternal species of small men with endless appetites for power. They pop up. You flip them away. Or else they'll ruthlessly take over.
WHAT YOU ARE UP AGAINST
A growing cast of despotic archetypes, every one of them invented — the Propagandist, the Rebel Leader, the People's Colonel, El Presidente, Il Bombasto, and more who each think the applause is for them.
None is a real person. Yet all of them exhibit familiar, tyrannical traits.
Each arrives with their own entourage. Motorcades. Secret police. Bodyguards. Cultist followers. Banners with slogans they wrote themselves. Watch each one all the way through at least once — you may want a break every now and then anyway.
THE TOOLS
Flip fast and keep the stage clear.
Swipe a BIG WAVE! to sweep the whole field at once.
Launch Slow-Snow when their numbers are too great.
Gain a Shield to defend yourself and keep up the fight.
Catch a shooting star for an extra life.
THE GAUNTLET
Thirty levels to your first campaign victory, then keep going as long as you can hold out. Security guards arrive. Bears wander in your way. The pace progresses towards relentless. Three difficulty settings: Easy, Normal, and Hard, plus an option to begin at level ten — if you're that good.
Some tyrants are revealed up front, most wait to be discovered, and one who arrives at level 30 can be particularly devastating if you're not careful enough or fast enough.
FREE TO PLAY, NO ADS
The whole game is free, and there are no ads in it. None. No pop-ups, no videos, no banners.
Power-ups run on Game Tokens:
• Earn them by playing — 1 Game Token for every 10,000 points in a finished game.
• Or buy them in packs of 40, 240 or 600.
• Spend them in the Power-Up Shop — 1 token for a BIG WAVE! or a Slow-Snow, 3 for a Shield, 5 for a Resurrection.
Every player starts with 3 of each. Each game loads up to 10 BIG WAVES!, 10 Slow-Snows, 3 Shields and 1 Resurrection. Nothing else is sold.
Game Tokens and power-ups live on the device you got them on. They do not carry over to your other devices, and deleting the game deletes them. Token packs are consumables and are not restorable.
No accounts. No sign-up. The game collects nothing about you. Purchases are handled by your app store. It is all written down at antisthenes.com.
ABOUT THE SATIRE
This is parody. Every character is a fictional composite of a type, not a portrait of any living person, party, or government. The tyrant is always the joke. The people are never the joke. If that is not your kind of humor, there are a great many other games, and we hope you find a good one.
