Built and proven where it is hardest: nine Sicilian hill towns whose streets punish a wide car. Every route decision is explained before you drive it.
Your navigation app thinks your car is a dot on a map. It isn't. With the mirrors out it is 2.3 meters wide, and the lane your phone just picked is 2.6.
DriveComfort plans routes for the car you are actually driving. It will happily take two minutes longer to keep you off a road you would have regretted.
Product rule: never send a big car down a stupid road.
WHAT IT SCORES
Every road segment gets a comfort score from 0 to 100 — for your vehicle, not in general:
• Width, measured against your car including mirrors, and against what is left when you meet an oncoming car
• Tight bends, against your car's real turning circle
• Hairpins, gradient and surface
• How likely the road is to be an alley rather than a street
• Legal width, height and weight limits, which rule a road out outright
• What other drivers have reported
THREE ROUTES, SIDE BY SIDE
Fastest, Comfort and Main roads, each with its travel time and its comfort score, so the trade-off is a decision you make instead of a surprise you discover. A measured example in Modica, Sicily, in a Kia EV9: the fastest route took 5 minutes and included 455 m of road too tight for the car. The comfort route took 7 minutes and 43 m.
"WHY THIS ROUTE?"
Tap it on any route and read the reasoning: which roads pulled the score down, where the tight sections are, which limits applied, and how good the road data is for that area. No black box. When the app is guessing, it says it is guessing.
YOUR VEHICLE
Set the car up once — width with mirrors, height, weight, turning circle. Kia EV9 is included with the manufacturer's figures. A catalogue of comparison vehicles, from a Fiat 500 to a motorhome, is there too; their dimensions are approximate and marked as such. Change the car and every score on the map changes with it.
GUIDANCE
Turn-by-turn with voice, distance and ETA. Leave the route and the reroute goes back through the same comfort engine, so you are not quietly dropped onto the fast, nasty option.
PREFERENCES THAT REALLY MOVE THE ROUTE
Avoid narrow roads. Avoid unpaved. Avoid difficult turns. Avoid steep roads. Prefer main roads. And a cap on how much extra time you are willing to spend for comfort.
HONEST ABOUT COVERAGE
Deep road intelligence — widths, tight bends, surfaces, driver reports — currently covers nine towns in Sicily: Taormina, Castelmola, Savoca, Cefalù, Erice, Ragusa Ibla, Modica, Noto and Ortigia in Siracusa. They were chosen first because they are about as hard as European streets get for a large car.
Outside those areas DriveComfort still plans and scores routes, but it marks the result as low confidence and tells you so in the explanation. Unknown never means safe: a road we know nothing about is treated pessimistically, never optimistically. More areas are on the way, and the scoring updates without an app update.
PRIVACY
No account. No sign-up. No name, no e-mail, no advertising identifier. Sharing anonymous driving data is off until you turn it on, and "Delete all my data" in Settings genuinely deletes it. Planning a route does send the candidate routes to our server, because that is where they are scored — that is in the privacy policy in plain words, not in the small print.
NOTHING IN THE WAY
No subscription. No in-app purchases. No ads. No account to create before you
can plan a route.
GOOD TO KNOW
iPhone, iOS 18 or later. An internet connection is needed for the road intelligence; without one the app still routes, but every road counts as unknown.
