ABLooplay: AB Repeat Player
Loop a section, slow it down
Free · In‑App Purchases · Designed for iPad. Not verified for macOS.
Missed a sentence? Tap “Loop This Sentence” and it finds the pauses and loops just that line, no A or B needed. Learning a song by ear? Half speed keeps the pitch.
A player for language listening and shadowing. Loop just the sentence you can’t catch, as many times as it takes. It works for learning music by ear, and as an everyday music player too.
■ From here to there, again and again
Watch the waveform and tap A and B — only that part repeats. You can pause and choose by eye, right at the gaps in the sound. Add a pause between repeats; set it to the length of the section and you get just enough time to say it back.
■ Auto-split by sentence (Pro)
Tap Auto-split and the app finds the pauses and makes a section for every sentence at once. Set “Plays before moving on” to 3 and you hear each sentence three times, then move on — even long lessons play through hands-free. Your earbuds’ next/previous controls move between sentences too.
■ Compare with your voice
Record yourself repeating the section, then tap “Original → You” to hear them back to back. Differences in pronunciation and intonation that are hard to notice while speaking become clear. Recordings stay on your device.
■ Half speed, same pitch
From 0.5× to 2× without changing the pitch. Turn on “Speed up a little each loop” and the speed rises 0.05× after each play, stopping at 1×. You can also change the key in semitones up to ±6 to match your instrument.
■ One waveform for precise edits
Zoom the waveform to Whole, 1 min, 20 s, 8 s or 3 s, or pinch. When zoomed, the black line stays centered and you slide the waveform to land exactly on the first word or note. Drag the A and B tabs, or nudge them with ±0.1 s. A folded map of the whole song sits at the top of the screen.
■ Practice log
See today, this week and your streak in the Settings tab. The AB Repeat tab lists “Recently Practiced” at the top, so yesterday’s lesson is one tap away.
■ Many sections and an equalizer (Pro)
Make as many sections per song as you like, jump with Back and Next or from the list, and give them names. The equalizer brings bass, vocals, drums, guitar or piano forward.
■ Learn by doing
A tutorial starts the first time you open the app. With a practice track of four English sentences, arrows guide you from setting A and B while paused to sliding the zoomed waveform, auto-splitting and recording your voice.
■ An everyday music player, too
Switch between Music and AB Repeat with the tabs. Music shows just the artwork, title and skip buttons, and keeps playing with the screen off and from the Lock Screen.
■ Adding and sorting audio
Import MP3s one by one or by folder from the Files app, or copy them straight into “On My iPhone > ABLooplay” from a computer. m4a, wav and aiff, songs from your music library (without copy protection) and podcast episodes work too. Tracks are sorted by their ID3 tags, artist → album → song, and you can edit tags on the spot.
■ Also
• Load LRC scripts to see each sentence and check your dictation
• On iPad the practice screen uses two columns, and Space, A, B and the arrow keys work on a keyboard
• Speed, sections and key are remembered per song
• No ads. The app only goes online to search for and download podcasts
• Your audio and recordings stay on your device and are never sent anywhere
■ Free and Pro
Importing, up to 3 sections per song, ±0.1 s adjustment, speed, key, speed-up, pauses, repeat counts, voice comparison, the practice log, favorites and up to 2 playlists are free.
ABLooplay Pro adds auto-split, unlimited sections per song, the equalizer and unlimited playlists. Choose a yearly (with a 7-day free trial), 6-month (with a 7-day free trial) or monthly auto-renewing subscription, or a one-time lifetime purchase.

Ratings & Reviews

■ Loop this sentence with one tap
Missed a sentence while listening? Tap “Loop This Sentence” in the bottom bar (“This Line” on the Music player). Without pressing A and B, it finds the pauses around the sentence, makes it a section and loops it.
■ Assign lesson text to sections
Even text without times (a lesson’s transcript) works: “Auto-split” › “Paste Text and Assign to Sections” names each section with a sentence, from the top. You get the current sentence, hiding and dictation right away.
■ Subtitles (SRT, VTT), translations and the full script
Subtitles load just like LRC, and each subtitle’s end becomes the section’s B. Bilingual files show the translation small under the sentence. Tap ≡ next to the sentence to read the whole script and jump to any line.
■ Add audio from videos
Use + › “From Videos in Photos”, or share a video from another app. Only the audio is kept, ready to practice like any other track.
■ Hide the text on the first play
Touch and hold the eye button next to the sentence. Listen by ear first, then with the text from the second time. With “3 plays, then next”, it runs hands-free.
■ Compare your voice’s waveform
After recording, the original and your voice are shown on the same time scale, so you can see a late start or a different length. With “Record After Original”, recording starts once the original finishes and stops automatically.
■ Also new
• Without Pro, you can now make up to 3 sections per song and move between them with Back and Next
• A new tutorial with 8 English sentences: learn to make a section for each sentence, go one sentence at a time, and record and compare your voice
• Recording now counts 3·2·1 first and shows the sentence to repeat (you can turn off the count in Settings)
• A searchable section list (with play counts and learned marks; swipe to mark as learned)
• Shuffle sections when moving on after a set number of plays
• A daily goal (minutes left, a notice when reached) and practice time per song
• ±0.1 on the iPad keyboard (1 2 for A, 9 0 for B)
• Less battery use while listening with the screen off
• Auto-split now makes up to 3,000 sections, so long lectures are split to the end
• The per-month price on the purchase screen now uses your currency’s decimals
