Yelken brings five word games together on one sea: crossword, word search, hangman, a word connect game and a voyage that ties them all together. Play offline, and if you like, use the same games to learn Spanish or Turkish vocabulary.
FIVE WORD GAMES
• Crossing Routes (crossword) — Read the clues and fit the intersecting words into the grid.
• Word Hunt (word search) — Trace the words hidden in the letter grid with your finger; some of them turn a corner.
• Compass Rose (word connect) — Join the letters on the compass to build words; every extra word you find pays bonus gold.
• Sailor's Knot (hangman) — Guess the word letter by letter; every miss tightens the noose. Proverbs and idioms show up too.
• Free Voyage — Three minutes at sea: steer your ship, collect letter crates, build words and fill port orders.
PLAY WORDS OR LEARN A LANGUAGE
You choose the interface language and the puzzle language separately. Match them and you get a pure word game: clues are crossword clues, with proverbs and idioms in the mix. Set the puzzle language to Spanish or Turkish and you are in learning mode: the clue is the meaning in your language, and every word you solve enters a spaced repetition schedule that brings it back before you forget it. Words you know return rarely; words you struggle with return often.
English, Turkish and Spanish are ready, and all nine language pairs work.
OFFLINE WORD GAME
Every word lives on your device. Play on a plane, on the metro, with no Wi-Fi at all — only Duel, the Weekly Race and the online leaderboard need a connection.
DAILY VOYAGE
One puzzle a day, the same for everyone. Keep your streak and the reward grows; miss a day and a streak freeze steps in. Share your result with friends. There are three daily quests too; finish all three to open the day's chest.
WEEKLY RACE
Every week everyone plays the same puzzles in a different game mode. Play as many runs as you like; each day's best five runs count toward your weekly score. The top three of the week win gold and gems, and goal chests open as your score passes each threshold. Free to enter; official rules are in the app.
DUEL AND THE TROPHY LEAGUE
Play the same four ports as a rival; the higher score takes the trophies, and you climb the Trophy League from Harbor to Legend. Duels are unlimited. Raise a Trophy Shield and a loss costs you no trophies; wins pay gold too. When no player is available, a computer opponent joins and the duel screen says so.
FIT OUT YOUR SHIP
Spend the gold you earn on your ship: figureheads, bunting, paints and sailcloth. Dress your captain, wear an animated title and design your own flag. Outfits and titles are unlocked with gems; gems are earned by playing (ranks, achievements, streaks) and are also sold as in-app purchases.
16,900 DICTIONARY-CHECKED WORDS
7,200 English words from A1 to B2, each with a Turkish and Spanish meaning, a definition, an example sentence and audio — plus a 5,100-word Turkish set and a 4,500-word Spanish set with their own crossword clues, and more than 2,000 proverbs and idioms. Every word was checked against TDK, RAE and Cambridge.
