Only for Apple TV

Free

Apple TV

Up to four columns of news, podcasts and videos on your TV – set up on its own or paired with channelBar for Mac or channelBar Feeds on iPhone. channelBar TV brings news, podcasts and videos to the big screen: up to four columns side by side, each showing everything, only news, only podcasts, only videos, or your own mix of channels and feeds. Everything at a glance – all from your remote. Set up your feeds right on the Apple TV, or pair it with channelBar for Mac or channelBar Feeds on iPhone. THE MOSAIC • One to four columns, each showing all content, one type (news, podcasts, videos) or your own selection of channels and single feeds • Any column can show only unread items; columns of channels and feeds can have a name of their own • Until you choose, the mosaic arranges the columns itself: one per channel with up to four channels, otherwise News, Podcasts, Videos and Unread • New items arrive at the top of their column; a column only jumps back to the top when you are not reading in it • Full rows with images or compact rows with text only • A violet dot marks what you haven't read, and the number above each column shows how much is new READING • Select a row to open it big: image, title, source, time and the text the feed provides • Scan the QR code next to the image with your iPhone to keep reading on the web page • Opening an item marks it as read – on all your devices; you can turn this off • Press and hold to mark the whole column or everything from one feed as read • YouTube videos open in the YouTube app LISTENING AND WATCHING • Start podcasts right from the detail view; the player bar at the top shows what's playing • Chapters and a transcript that follows along; one click jumps right there • Speed from half to triple; TRIM skips long pauses and shows the time saved • Skip back 15 seconds, forward 30 or from chapter to chapter; pause and resume with the Play button on your remote • Audio keeps playing when you leave the app • Videos from feeds with a video enclosure play full screen PROTECTED FEEDS channelBar TV recognizes feeds that need a password. Enter the credentials once on the TV; they stay in this device's keychain. ON ITS OWN ON THE APPLE TV On first launch choose "Use on Its Own": the guided setup suggests news, podcast and video feeds for your languages and interests and creates the channels. Find more feeds through search, by feed address or YouTube channel, and manage channels and feeds in Settings. No account, no server, no device group. PAIRED WITH MAC AND IPHONE Or choose "Pair with iPhone or Mac": you set up channels and feeds in channelBar for Mac or channelBar Feeds on iPhone, then pair the TV once with a code from Device Sync. From then on the TV fetches the feeds itself and stays up to date even when your Mac and iPhone are switched off. Read status and listening position stay in sync with your other devices; messages your Mac receives from other sources arrive through sync as well. You save items to Consume Later on the TV too, and a column of its own shows the list. Switching between the two modes resets the content on the TV. PRIVACY channelBar TV works without tracking, ads or analytics. On its own, the TV only talks to the servers of your feeds and, when you search, to Apple and YouTube. Paired, it only sends back to your device group what you change on it: read status, Consume Later and listening position. FREE channelBar TV is free and has no in-app purchases. On its own it needs nothing else – no other app, no account. Pairing is optional: for that you need channelBar for Mac or channelBar Feeds on iPhone, either in its trial or purchased.
