Pelican Speak turns introductory English word practice into a coastal bicycle ride. Read the highlighted word aloud to help your pelican catch its swimming fish. Fish approach from far away while the word stays readable. Enjoy ocean waves, changing coastal light and five camera views.
START SMALL
Explore 80 English words in 8 open themes and 16 short lessons: animals, colours, fruit, the body, home, toys, food and actions. Each lesson introduces five words and can mix in familiar words for review. No school-grade selection or score-based unlocking.
PRACTISE AT YOUR PACE
Automatic spoken examples are off by default. Turn them on to hear each word first, or tap Listen whenever you need help. The default listening window is 30 seconds, with 10- and 20-second options and a custom 5-300 second setting. Examples and pauses do not use your listening time. Skip a word when you want to move on.
ENCOURAGEMENT, NOT A PRONUNCIATION EXAM
Choose Encourage speaking, Gentle or Standard recognition tolerance. More forgiving settings accept some similar recognized words. A recognized speech candidate is still needed; silence does not count as a catch. Results are word matches, not pronunciation scores or proficiency ratings. Review words you want to practise again and keep progress on your device.
VOICE AND PRIVACY
Speaking gameplay requires microphone and speech recognition permission, plus a device with on-device English recognition and the required Apple speech resources. The app does not fall back to cloud recognition. System speech resources may need an internet connection to become available. Audio and transcripts are not saved or sent to the developer. No accounts, ads, analytics or subscriptions. Settings and practice records stay on your device; system backups may include them.
The interface supports 18 languages. Learning content in this release is English only. This is original introductory vocabulary practice, not an official curriculum, a complete language course or a proficiency certificate.
