That's 252 blue whales, end to end. dotstep is a step counter that takes your walking seriously and everything else a little less so. Open it and the day's steps fill the screen in enormous dotted numerals. Underneath, the distance turns into something you can actually picture: blue whales laid nose to tail, T. rexes, giraffes standing on each other's heads, Eiffel Towers. Every one of them drawn in dots. TAP THE PICTURE Not feeling the whales? Tap. Now it's 513 T. rexes. Tap again: kangaroos, penguins, a Boeing 747, the Bosphorus Bridge. 23 animals and 8 very large objects, picked to fit however far you walked. THE REST OF YOUR DAY • Today's steps, live while the app is open • Distance, active calories and the steps left to your goal • An hourly chart of today, and daily charts for the week and the month • Your busiest hour and your daily average • Your weight change over the last 30 days, from Apple Health • Small and medium Home Screen widgets BLACK. DOTS. THAT'S IT. A pure black screen, every dot exactly the same size, and numbers big enough to read at arm's length. No streaks, no badges, no confetti. YOURS, AND ONLY YOURS dotstep reads your data from Apple Health and keeps it on your iPhone. No account. No ads. No tracking. Nothing is sent anywhere. The height and weight you enter are saved back to Apple Health, so your health data stays in one place. Rather not share Apple Health? It still works: your steps come straight from the iPhone's motion sensor. PAY ONCE. WALK FOREVER. No subscription, no in-app purchases. You buy it, it's yours. Calories and the weight figure are estimates; values that are estimated are marked with ≈. dotstep is not a medical device.
