Out of book by move 5? Tired of learning an opening, then forgetting it by your next game?
London System Chess teaches you one solid setup for White that you can play against almost anything: 1…d5, 1…Nf6, the Dutch, the King's Indian and more. Less theory to learn, and more games that start the way you want.
HOW IT WORKS
1. Learn: short, interactive lessons where you play every move yourself. Bertie, your bowler-hatted coach, explains why each move works and grades it with the symbols players know: !!, !, !? and ?.
2. Remember: the Commute is a 5-minute daily review that brings each position back right before you'd forget it. It runs on FSRS, a modern spaced-repetition algorithm, so your time goes to the moves you're about to lose.
3. Play: spar against six engine levels, solve daily puzzles, race the clock in Rush Hour and check your real games.
THE WHOLE LONDON, FROM FIRST MOVE TO GRANDMASTER IDEAS
• 95 lessons in 12 lines: Foundations, Classical, Symmetry and Counterstrike against 1…d5, Trap Street, Fianchetto, the Offbeat Express for the Dutch and other surprises, Endgame Junction, Jobava, Attack, Model Games and the Grandmaster Line.
• Every line checked with Stockfish.
• Your repertoire as one move tree. Tap any branch to replay it and see what you remember.
SEE WHERE YOUR OWN GAMES GO WRONG
Game Checkup reads your Chess.com games, or a PGN from anywhere, and shows the exact move where you left the book, next to the London move. Add a slip to your next Commute with one tap, so the same mistake doesn't happen twice.
PRACTICE THAT FEELS LIKE PLAY
• Rush Hour: 60 seconds. How many London moves can you find?
• Mind the Gap: daily puzzles where Black slips up and you punish it.
• Sparring Partner: full games against six levels, from Tourist to Grandmaster, with an evaluation bar beside the board. Your opponent plays real London theory.
• Climb the ranks from Pawn to Grandmaster, set a daily goal and keep your streak alive.
BUILT FOR YOUR LEVEL AND YOUR DAY
Brand new or rated 1700, you start with the lessons that fit your level. A lesson takes 3 to 15 minutes, and the daily review about five. No account, no ads, no tracking: your progress stays on your device.

Ratings & Reviews
Bertie has a plan: every lesson now starts with one, and the course has grown to 100 lessons, with four real games to play through.
Lessons
• Each lesson opens on a board of arrows and rings: what to go for, and what to watch out for. Each line's first lesson shows the map of the whole line.
• The moves you find name the rule they follow, such as "Meet ...c5 with c3", and an arrow or a ring shows why.
• The colours keep one meaning each: green for our plan, gold for our targets, blue for the squares we control and red for Black's threats.
• A move you tap in a lesson's words plays where the sentence means it, and the mistakes it names are marked ? or ??.
New in the course
• Four real games to play move by move: Kamsky v Shankland, 2014, Carlsen v Tomashevsky, 2016, Ding v Nepomniachtchi, 2023, and Jobava v Ponomariov, 2016.
• Black's Tenth Move, on the Attack Line: what to play against 10...b6, 10...Nd7??, 10...cxd4 and 10...Ne7.
• 87 more drills and 205 more positions cover what club players meet that the course skipped, from the Copycat with ...Nc6 and the Dutch's move orders to the 2...h5 trap on the London bishop.
• Two lessons teach a stronger move now: 10.Nxd7 in Knight to e5, and 11.g4 in Tension Released. If you learned the old move, the Commute asks you for the new one.
• A lesson you've already finished adds its new positions when you play it again. Until you learn them, your % of the London on You dips a little.
The Commute
• How the Commute works, in Settings, in Drills and on the reminder page before your first lesson, charts how a position fades when you learn it once, and how the Commute keeps it.
Mind the Gap
• 92 puzzles, three of them new. Titles name the theme without giving the move away, and four puzzles now play Black's slip before you answer.
Fixes
• The lock screen widget says "1 position due".
• Rush Hour says missed positions go back into your Commute only when some did.
• The Commute's step line stays still while a retry shows its grade.
