DJ House Music Studio is DJ House Music for iPad, from Sandmatter: the Mac app's engine and sounds, made for your fingers. It turns an iPad into a house and techno instrument and a two-deck DJ mixer. PLAY Pads that always sound right: the seven chords of your key on top, the notes of its scale under them, ten drums at the bottom. Ten fingers are ten notes, each as loud as it is hit. Pro mode adds a chromatic grid in fourths, triads or sevenths, and each sound's main knobs. Six instruments: an acid bass and lead, a poly synth with 24 sounds, a free-reed harmonium, a modelled piano, and the Voice: record eight seconds and the pads play its words. Sixteen drum kits. THE LOOP A 16-step loop on two decks, eight tracks on each. Record from the pads and it lands on the grid, quantised to the sixteenth; mute its layers to build the arrangement live. Eight starter loops to begin from. MIX Two records on one clock: their timelines stacked, the same seconds across the same width, so two beat grids that line up are two records in phase. Bring in any MP3, M4A, WAV, AIFF or FLAC from Files and the app finds its tempo and key. Sync, CUE, up to eight hot cues, loops in beats, rolls, key lock, a pitch fader with its range, Beats / Full / Tonal stems and a No voice switch, three-band EQ, a filter, echo and reverb sends, and a crossfader with its curve. THE CRATE Your records under the decks, folder by folder, with tempo and key, and the ones that fit the record playing marked. Search, and a queue for each deck. YOUR OWN PADS Between the loop decks, twelve pads: four of your own over eight of the kit's. Record a sound with the microphone, bring one in from Files or start from the app's own; set its level and its pitch. While the loop records, a hit lands on its grid. UPRIGHT OR ON ITS SIDE Designed both ways: on its side, the columns of a studio; upright, the records on top and your hands at the bottom. YOUR FILES On Mix, the record button records what you hear as a WAV file. Everything you make stays in the app's folder, which Files shows under DJ House Music. A set keeps playing when the screen locks. PRIVATE BY DESIGN No account, no analytics, no network. Everything runs on the iPad.
