Set your iPhone Duo down and the whole screen glows. Close the hinge to dim, open it to brighten. Warmth from daylight to candlelight, and a sleep timer that fades out. Reading Light turns your iPhone into a nightstand lamp. On iPhone Duo, the hinge is the dimmer. CONTROL DIMMING WITH YOUR HINGE Set the Duo down in the seated pose, bottom half flat, top half angled up, and the whole inner display becomes a soft reading light. Close the hinge a little to dim, open it to brighten, close it fully to switch off. A soft haptic marks full brightness and off. No slider, no buttons: the angle you leave it at is the light you get. WARMTH A dial of ticks along the edge sets the colour temperature, from 6500 K daylight down to 1800 K candlelight, with a click at every 100 K. Turn past candlelight and the scale gives way to Ember, a deep red for night vision and a sleeping partner. Like a filament, the light turns warmer as it dims (you can switch that off). A SLEEP TIMER THAT HELPS YOU FALL ASLEEP Tap the moon and the light turns itself off after your usual length: 5, 15, 30, 60 minutes or your own. It stays at full brightness while you read, then fades out over the last minute, so it never creeps darker on you. If you are still awake, one touch gives you ten more minutes. A quiet clock shows the time left, in your choice of six styles: numerals, words, a waning moon, a candle burning down, an hourglass, or a ring of minutes. Each one has a small finale in the last seconds.
