A zoomed monitor exactly where you need it. Pin a frame over any part of the screen, keep working there with your normal mouse and keyboard, and watch that spot magnified — live, pixel-true and perfectly still — in a window next to it.
For UI designers checking how a design really renders, developers tuning layout in the browser or the Simulator, and anyone writing a design review or a bug report.
WORK IN PLACE
• Clicks inside the frame go to the app underneath, so hover states stay live while the Viewer shows them big.
• Nothing moves on its own: the Viewer keeps its zoom while you move or resize the frame.
• Snap the frame to window edges, fit it to a window in one click, or attach it so it follows the window. Margins leave out a browser's toolbar.
• Follow Pointer: the frame follows the mouse, to look along a page without dragging it.
PIXEL-TRUE
• At 800% every screen pixel is a crisp 8×8 square, on Retina and non-Retina displays alike.
• Zoom presets from Fit to 64×, or any zoom by pinch, scroll or a typed percentage.
INSPECT
• Color Meter: HEX, CSS, HSL, OKLCH, SwiftUI, AppKit, ARGB for Compose and Flutter, and the display's value, one click to copy; a 1 px, 3×3 or 5×5 sample.
• Recent colors and eight favorites, which every Mac app's Colors panel lists too.
• Contrast: the WCAG 2 ratio with AA and AAA verdicts, and which kinds of color blindness merge the pair.
• Rulers in pixels and points, and a pixel grid.
• Reference layers: lay a design export over the live screen in Difference, and matching pixels turn black — or split the view to show a change side by side.
• Open, drop or paste an image, or use Open With in Finder, and inspect it with the same tools.
SEE IT AS OTHERS DO
• Six kinds of color vision, simulated live over any app while you edit, the weak forms at the severity you choose, and split beside normal vision.
COPY EXACTLY WHAT YOU SEE
• Copy View: the zoomed view as shown, ready for a review or a bug report. Copy Source: the area at native resolution.
• Copy a selection snapped to pixels, or Option-drag any region. Save as PNG.
• Copy Text: select and copy the text in the view, even from an app that doesn't let you select it.
CATCH TRANSIENT STATES
• Freeze from any app with a global shortcut while the mouse is held down, or after a countdown.
• Snapshots kept across launches; link two to flip between light and dark at the same spot.
SCREENSHOT STUDIO
• Exact pixel sizes, the App Store's among them, a timer, a background seen on screen, one window alone with its shadow; PNG, JPEG or HEIC with no personal metadata.

PRIVACY
Screen Loupe needs Screen Recording access to see the screen. What it captures stays on your Mac: no account, no analytics, no network; text is recognized on the device. The app collects no data.
Free. The core is open source (MIT); official builds add free closed-source features.
