It translates automatically when you stop talking - Text: type or dictate a sentence and hear it in the other language - Conversation: the screen splits in two, one half for each person, to talk face to face - Camera: take a photo of a sign, a menu or a label, or pick one from your library, and read the translated text. Ask whatever you need to know (with Apple Intelligence) and get an answer in your own language - Headphones: you hear the translation in your headphones and the other person hears it through the speaker. The screen tells them when to talk OFFLINE Each language downloads once, over the internet. From then on, speech recognition and translation run locally on your iPhone, without using data. While a language is being prepared, you can see how the download is going. “Offline languages” only marks the ones that really work without internet as ready, and lets you download the rest.
