Al-Mizan Summarized presents all 6,236 verses of the Quran alongside a
summarised, readable rendering of Al-Mizan fi Tafsir al-Quran by Allamah
Muhammad Husayn Tabatabai — one of the major commentaries of the Islamic
scholarly tradition, and one that few readers ever get through in full.
Every verse opens onto four ways of reading it:
CONTEXT — where and why the verse was revealed, and what surrounds it.
TAFSIR — the verse taken phrase by phrase, with Tabatabai's analysis of each.
AHLUL BAYT NARRATIONS — drawn from two sources only: Nahjul Balagha and
Al-Kafi, with the chain shown where it is known.
THEMES & INSIGHTS — what the verse is doing, beyond the line itself.

The summaries in this app were produced with the assistance of AI, guided by
carefully written prompts, from Tabatabai's original work. Every effort has been
made to represent the tafsir faithfully, but an AI-assisted summary cannot fully
carry the depth and rigour of the original. This app is an accessible way in —
not a replacement for the complete text, which readers are encouraged to consult.
The Qur'an text and the English translation are not AI-generated. The Arabic is
the Tanzil Uthmani text and the translation is by Ali Quli Qara'i, both used
verbatim from the Tanzil Project (tanzil.net) and credited in the app under
Settings → Sources & Credits.
If you find an error, or a passage that does not reflect the original, please use
the Flag feature on any verse. Those reports are read, and they improve the app.
