Aviation Weather & Crosswind

Free · In‑App Purchases · Designed for iPad. Not verified for macOS.

Plain-English METARs and TAFs, runway-aligned crosswind and nearby pilot reports. Unlimited airports, no ads, no account. Widgets, Apple Watch and alerts with Pro. Plainwx turns METARs and TAFs into one clear sentence, so you can read the weather at your airport at a glance, with the raw report always one tap away. "Clear skies, 10+ miles visibility. Wind from the west at 14 knots." FREE, WITH NO ADS AND NO ACCOUNT - Unlimited airports. Search by ICAO, FAA or IATA code, name or city, with autocorrect off so KORD stays KORD - Plain-English METAR decode with flight category (VFR, MVFR, IFR, LIFR), and the raw METAR always on screen - TAF timeline in local time and Zulu, side by side. Tap any period for its plain-English summary and raw group - Runway-aligned crosswind and headwind for every runway, gusts included, with the best runway picked for you - Pilot reports (PIREPs) within 50 nm, decoded - Nearby reporting airports by bearing and distance - Every report shows its age, turning gold after 60 minutes and red after 90 - Reports refresh on their own every 5 minutes, and the last good report stays available offline - Airports with no weather reporting point you to the nearest station that has it - Small Home Screen widget for one airport - iPad two-column layout in every orientation, Split View and Stage Manager - Dark and light appearance, Dynamic Type, and favorites synced through iCloud PLAINWX PRO - Lock Screen widgets, plus a medium widget with all your saved airports - Apple Watch app and complications, fetching its own data on cellular watches - Winds aloft from 3,000 ft to FL240 for your airports - Category alerts when an airport drops below VFR, improves to VFR, or changes category (iOS sets the exact timing) Pro is available as a weekly or yearly auto-renewing subscription. The yearly plan starts with a 3-day free trial. Payment is charged to your Apple ID when you confirm the purchase, or when the trial ends. Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Manage or cancel anytime in your App Store account settings. WHERE THE DATA COMES FROM Weather comes from the NOAA Aviation Weather Center. Plainwx never guesses: anything it can't decode is shown raw and flagged. Plainwx supplements, but does not replace, an official preflight weather briefing.
