Japan Tax Refund: Tax-Free Log

Receipt, customs & VAT tracker

Free · In‑App Purchases · Designed for iPad. Not verified for macOS.

Japan's new tax refund system starts Nov 1. On an autumn-leaves or year-end trip? Check the ¥5,000 per-store minimum, get 90-day alerts, and show customs your item list. From November 1, 2026, tax-free shopping in Japan works differently. You pay tax at the store and get it back only after customs confirms at departure that your goods are leaving Japan. Miss the customs check and the refund is gone. Japan Tax Refund keeps every tax-free purchase in one place, so nothing slips through. ◆ What it does ◆ ・Record each purchase with store, date, items, amount and a receipt photo ・Automatic check of the ¥5,000 minimum (same store, same day, excluding tax) ・A 90-day deadline for every purchase, with reminders 7 days before and on the day ・Warns you if a deadline falls before your departure date ・Departure checklist for the airport, with key rules such as bringing every item on each receipt and keeping cosmetics and food unopened ・A Japanese and English list to show customs officers ・Track each refund: before customs, customs done, refunded ・Approximate amounts in your home currency ・Export to CSV ◆ Who it is for ◆ ・Visitors shopping at drugstores, electronics stores and department stores in Japan ・Anyone who wants to know when and how much tax will come back ・Travelers visiting several cities with a growing pile of receipts ◆ Free version and purchase ◆ ・Record up to 3 purchases for free ・Unlock unlimited purchases with a one-time payment ・No monthly fee, no subscription and no ads ◆ Privacy ◆ ・Works offline. Your purchases and receipt photos stay on your iPhone or iPad ・No account needed ◆ Please note ◆ ・This app is a personal record and is not affiliated with the Japanese government, customs or any store ・Always follow store and customs instructions and check the latest official information
