Katha Vardhan : Kids Stories
Indic Kids Stories
$19.99 · Designed for iPad. Not verified for macOS.
130 stories from India's oldest books, every one read aloud in English and Hindi, each word lighting up as it is heard. Panchatantra, Ramayana and more, in Madhubani art.
Katha Vardhan brings India's oldest stories to children aged 5 to 10, in English and Hindi, and reads every one of them aloud.
Its 105 stories come from the classical books: the Panchatantra, the Hitopadesha, the Ramayana, the Mahabharata, the Upanishads, the Puranas and the Jataka tales, with a few old fables from Greece and China. Each one is retold fresh for young children, and each names its source, so you always know where it comes from.
IN EVERY STORY
• 8 to 12 animated scenes, drawn in the style of Madhubani folk painting
• Read to me, in English and in Hindi
• The words in English, in simple Hindi, or both side by side
• The moral of the story
• The original Sanskrit shloka, with its meaning
• A short glossary of names and words
• A five-question quiz: two about what happened, three about the lesson
READ IT YOUR WAY
• Read to me: all 105 stories are read aloud in the voice of the app's young maker, Vrishvardhan, in English and in Hindi. Each word lights up as it is heard, and the pages turn by themselves.
• Read together: the scenes move while you and your child read the words.
• I'll read: your child reads aloud, records, and listens back. No scores and no streaks, just practice.
• Watch: the scenes play one after another.
FAMILY VOICES
Record any story page by page in your own voice, in any language, so your child can hear Mummy, Papa, Dadi or Nana read it again and again. A Tamil family can show the English words and read aloud in Tamil. Recordings stay on your device and are never uploaded.
FOR PARENTS
• Filter the library by collection, by age (4+, 6+ or 8+) and by lesson: courage, truth, friendship, kindness, patience and more.
• Each story card says plainly if the story has a death, a battle, a fierce creature, a sad moment or a trick, so you can choose.
• Hard moments are told gently, in one or two plain lines, and never to frighten.
• Bedtime mode: softer, dimmer pages and a sleep timer that closes the story.
• Recording, deleting and every link out of the app sit behind a parent check.
• Works fully offline. No internet is needed.
• Everything is included. No ads, no sign-in, no in-app purchases and no tracking. Nothing about your child leaves the device.
