Plan the month before it starts, then log each purchase in seconds. One payment, no subscription, no account. Your budget stays on your iPhone and your own iCloud Drive.
Micawber is a zero-based budget for iPhone. Before the month starts, you plan all of your income as spending or saving, until there is nothing left to budget. Then you log what you spend against that plan as it happens, and see what is left in each category before you buy.
PLAN THE MONTH
• Income, Spending and Saving, each with groups and categories. Start from the defaults, then add, rename, recolour, reorder or archive them.
• Remaining to budget sits at the top: green when all of your income is planned, amber while income is still unassigned, red when you have planned more than you earn.
• Every category shows what is spent of what is planned, and what is left.
• A new month starts from last month's plan in one tap, or empty if you would rather.
LOG SPENDING IN SECONDS
• Quick-add opens with the amount ready to type and your most used categories first. Pick one, add a payee if you like, and save.
• Split one payment across several categories, such as a supermarket receipt of groceries, a gift and something for the house. Type every amount but one and the last line takes the rest.
• The Transactions list shows the month day by day. Tap an entry to change it, or swipe it away, with Undo.
FUNDS
• Turn a saving category into a fund to keep the balance of money set aside for something: a car, a holiday, next year's fees. Your contributions are the saving you log. Withdrawals and adjustments are entered on the fund itself, so they change its balance and never the month's budget.
SEE WHERE IT GOES
• Insights breaks the month down by group and category, with each one's share of spending, planned against actual, and its average month.
• Every category has a 12-month trend, and a chart sets income against spending and saving, month by month.
YOUR DATA STAYS YOURS
• No account and nothing to sign in to. Micawber collects no data, shows no ads and makes no network requests of its own.
• Automatic backups once a day to your own iCloud Drive, in the Files app under iCloud Drive › Micawber, or on your iPhone while iCloud Drive is off.
• Export everything as JSON whenever you like, and restore from any backup or export.
• Micawber doesn't connect to your bank or move any money. You type in what you earn and spend; Micawber keeps the record and does the sums.
ONE PAYMENT
Micawber is paid for once. There is no subscription, no in-app purchases and no ads, and every feature is in the app you buy.
Amounts are in your iPhone's currency, taken from its region when Micawber first opens. Micawber supports Dark Mode and larger text sizes.
