Softer Ring plays calm sounds for people who live with ringing ears. Find the pitch of your ringing in a few minutes, then listen to noise or nature sounds with that band gently left out, for relaxing or falling asleep.
It's a wellness app, not a medical device. It won't cure tinnitus, and it tells you plainly when to see a doctor.
MATCH YOUR PITCH
Put on headphones and answer "higher or lower?" for three short rounds. A quick octave check catches the most common mix-up. You get a range, not a made-up exact number, and you can match each ear separately.
YOUR SOUND
White, pink or brown noise and eight nature sounds (rain, rain on a roof, ocean surf, forest stream, bedroom fan, soft wind, fireplace, summer night), with a notch around your pitch. Switch the notch off and on to hear the difference.
MIXER AND YOUR OWN FILES
Mix up to three sounds. Import audio files you own from the Files app. (Apple Music and Spotify tracks are protected, so no app can play them this way.)
SLEEP TIMER
15, 30, 60 or 90 minutes, or until a wake-up time. The sound fades out slowly and keeps playing with the screen locked.
DIARY
Once a day, rate how loud and how bothersome the ringing was and how you slept. See 30 days of trends and export a PDF to take to your doctor.
SAFE FOR YOUR EARS
Every sound stays under a volume cap. You get a warning when your iPhone volume is high and a reminder to take breaks. Apple Health users can see their weekly headphone levels.
