Make a GIF that moves on its own from a video, photos, or a burst. It is a short loop, with no play button and no sound. On your iPhone alone, you can make an animated GIF to drop into social media, chats, email, and documents.
No complicated steps. Choose your source, set the length or the order, and turn it into a GIF. Save the file to Photos and send it from the apps you already use. Conversion stays on your device. Your videos and photos are not sent to a server.
A GIF gets chosen even when a video is available, because it makes no sound and starts looping the moment it opens. It fits the moments when you want motion at a glance: a reaction in chat, a social post, a how-to, a newsletter, or part of a document.
There are three ways to make one.
From a video Choose a video from your photo library and set the start and end. Up to 30 seconds can be loaded. On the edit screen, you can further adjust the length to use and the start within that range. While watching the preview, set the FPS, loop, reverse, ping-pong, size, and aspect ratio.
From photos Choose at least 2 photos, and up to 100. They are numbered in the order you picked them. After you reorder or delete any, edit them the same way and make a GIF.
From a burst Choose a burst taken by holding the shutter, and the frames from that same shot are loaded together. Arrange the order, then make a GIF.
What you can adjust ・FPS from 5 to 50. Choose a slower look, or smoother motion ・Loop on or off ・Reverse ・Ping-pong. After it reaches the end, it plays back the other way and loops ・Export size: Small, Medium, or Large. The long edge is about 320, 480, or 720 pixels ・Aspect ratio: Original, plus 1:1, 16:9, 9:16, 4:3, and 3:4 ・No audio. The file is motion only
