Visiting Europe? Most non-EU travellers may spend 90 days in any 180 in the Schengen Area. See yours on one timeline, check any date and spot an overstay before you book.
The 90/180 rule, finally easy to see.
Visiting Europe? Most travellers from outside the EU may spend only 90 days in any 180 in the Schengen Area, the 29 European countries with no border checks between them.
Schengen-Schmengen puts every trip you've taken and every trip you're planning on one timeline, and counts your days the way the rule works: any 180 days, looking back from whichever day you pick. You can see at a glance how many of your 90 days you've used, when they come back, and whether next summer's plan fits.
PLAN BY DRAGGING
• Double-tap an empty day to add a trip. Drag it to move it, and pull its ends to change the dates.
• A trip turns red and hatched from the first day it would take you over 90 days, so you can fix the plan before you book.
• A chart beside your trips shows the days used across the rolling window, and shades the days when a full 90-day stay could begin.
CHECK ANY DATE
Touch and hold the chart to check any day. You'll see the days used in its 180-day window, the longest stay you could start then, and the days that expire during that stay. It answers "can I stay until the 3rd?" and "when can I come back for three months?" alike.

WHAT IS THE SCHENGEN AREA?
29 European countries with no passport checks between them, 25 of them in the EU. To a visitor they're one place, so days in France, Italy and Germany all count toward the same 90.
• In it: Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czechia, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden and Switzerland.
• Not in it: Ireland and Cyprus (both in the EU) and the UK, so days there don't count.
THE RULE IN BRIEF
Visitors who aren't EU, EEA or Swiss citizens may stay up to 90 days in any 180-day period across the Schengen Area, with or without a visa: travellers from the US, the UK, Canada and Australia among them. Arrival and departure days both count, and leaving doesn't reset the count. Since April 2026 the EU's Entry/Exit System has recorded every border crossing automatically, so an overstay goes on record.
Schengen-Schmengen gives estimates, not legal advice, and isn't affiliated with the EU or any government. Border interpretations, time zones and entry mistakes can change the result, so check official sources before you travel.
