Docbook Notes
Daily notes, filed by topic
Free
Write on any day. Docbook files each paragraph under its topic, on a page of its own, while your calendar stays the way you wrote it.
Docbook is a calendar for your notes.
Write on any day, the way you would in a paper planner: what happened, what you decided, what is still open. Docbook reads what you wrote and suggests where each paragraph belongs: a topic with a page of its own. Your kitchen renovation, your half marathon, the book you are reading: each gets a page that collects every day you wrote about it, with the date each paragraph came from. The calendar stays exactly the way you wrote it.
No folders. No tags to keep up. Not where you want it? Take the paragraph out of that topic.
A CALENDAR THAT HOLDS YOUR NOTES
- See the whole month with your notes and events in each day.
- Open a day to read its note and its schedule from Apple Calendar.
- Write one note across several days: a trip, a sprint, a week the kitchen is out of use. It shows as one band across those days.
TOPICS THAT BUILD THEMSELVES
- Every topic is a page, with sub-topics as its sections.
- Docbook suggests a topic under each paragraph ("Maybe: …"). Accept it, or let it file notes on its own from Settings.
- Each filed paragraph gets a small number, and the footnotes under the note name its topic. Tap one to open that page.
- A topic with three or more notes opens with a short summary of them, each sentence dated to the notes it came from.
- Search every note and topic at once.
TASKS IN YOUR NOTES
- Write a to-do in any note, the same as a line of text.
- See every open task in one list, by day, and tick it off there or in its note.
YOUR CALENDARS, ALREADY HERE
- Turn on Apple Calendar and every calendar you keep shows up in its own color. No import, no extra account.
- Events are read and written on your device through Apple Calendar. They are not sent to Docbook.
- Add and edit events without leaving the month.
ON IPHONE AND IPAD
- On iPhone: the month in your pocket. Switch between Details, Compact and List, tap a day to open its page, and hold and drag across days to write about several at once.
- On iPad: Day and Month views, notes in popovers, format menus above the keyboard, and keyboard shortcuts.
YOUR NOTES, YOUR CHOICE
Suggesting topics and summing up topic pages uses an AI service (Google's Gemini API). Docbook asks before sending anything, and sends nothing until you allow it. You can change your answer at any time in Settings. Without it, Docbook is still a full calendar notebook.
Start writing right away, no account needed. Sign in with Apple, Google or your email when you want your notes on all your devices.
