Connect to the companion Mac app, browse a shared SMB folder, or connect to WebDAV, Jellyfin, Emby, or Plex. You can also open an HTTP or HTTPS video address.
Projector reads the original file. It does not transcode, recompress, or cap its bitrate. HEVC films play through Apple TV's own video path, so Dolby Vision (profiles 5 and 8, and profile 7 converted to 8.1) and HDR10 reach the display, and Dolby Digital Plus with Atmos reaches the receiver untouched. TrueHD and DTS-HD Master Audio play as lossless multichannel sound.
Shows are grouped by season with the next episode ready. Chapters, frame previews while scrubbing, and a Continue row on the Top Shelf come along.
Picture and audio output depend on the file, Apple TV, display, receiver, and connection.
