A TTANG TTANG critter lives on your Mac desktop. Type and it runs along the bottom of the screen claiming ground, and the more ground you claim, the more paws you earn for new friends and hats. ■ Type, and it runs Every key you press sends your buddy running along the bottom of the screen, leaving a trail behind. Get back to your own ground and the whole trail becomes yours at once. The faster you type, the faster it runs, and every 50-key combo doubles its speed for 2 seconds. The more ground you claim, the more paws you earn. ■ Leave it alone and it gets up to something After a while it pulls something out of nowhere. It races a go-kart in sunglasses, floats up on balloons until they pop one by one, launches a rocket (sometimes it fizzles), slurps cup noodles, toasts marshmallows by a campfire. Ten antics in all, and each one you see goes into your collection book. ■ It reacts when you touch it Rub it gently with the cursor and it purrs. Poke it and it hops; poke it five times in a row and it sulks with its back to you. Pick it up and it dangles, toss it and it flies. With more than one display, it walks and flies between them. At night it sleeps. ■ Collect and dress up Spend paws on 19 friends, 21 hats, 12 step effects and 6 ground colors. Try an outfit on your desktop for 10 seconds before you buy. Friends give you keepsakes as you grow closer, and your collection book fills up. You can also bring any friend home right away with an in-app purchase, or get the All Friends or Special Friends bundle and paw packs. ■ Stays out of your way Clicks on empty space go to the app underneath, and touching your buddy never takes keyboard focus from the app you are using. Keep it above other windows or only on the desktop. It hides over full-screen apps and stops drawing when covered or when the screen is locked. ■ Key presses are only counted With the Input Monitoring permission, it counts only when and how many times keys are pressed. It never reads which key or letter, and never saves or sends it anywhere. Without the permission, petting, tossing and dressing up all still work. No ads, no subscription.
