Chute — Clipboard & Notes

Copy it, keep it, find it

$4.99

New: Markdown that reads like a page, and Back and Forward between your notes. Copy freely, keep what matters, find it again. One purchase for Mac, iPhone and iPad. Chute is a clipboard manager and a quiet library for everything worth keeping, on your Mac, iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch. COPY FREELY • Everything you copy on your Mac is kept: text, links, pictures, files. ⌘⇧V brings the history back, Return pastes. • ⌘⇧V finds things in your library too: type three letters, press Return, and a note is pasted anywhere. • Your latest copies appear on your iPhone and iPad within seconds. • What you copy on your iPhone or iPad joins the same list when you open Chute. • Anything a password manager marks as secret is never recorded. KEEP WHAT MATTERS • One keystroke sends a copy to your library. Write a thought with ⌘⇧Space, drag a file or a scan onto the window, or share from any app on your iPhone. • New things land in the Inbox. Chute suggests a folder; one click files it, or keep it loose. • Links arrive with their title and picture, files with a preview. • Drag a note onto a folder, a tag or the Trash; drag a file from the Finder straight into a folder. WRITE LIKE IN NOTES • Notes with checklists, bullets, numbered lists and headings that continue themselves. Tab nests, undo goes back step by step. • Text pasted from a terminal or a prompt joins back into paragraphs. • Markdown reads like a page: bold, quotes, code and links are shown as such, their marks out of sight until you write in the line. THINK ALOUD • Press the Action button and speak. A wave answers your voice, and the words go into today's note with the time. Heard on the phone itself, in the language you choose. • On Apple Watch, tap Speak and say it. It reaches today's note on your iPhone, even if the phone was out of reach when you spoke. • Today's note gathers the day one line at a time. ⌘T on the Mac. REMEMBER AND DO • Set a reminder on anything: later today, this evening, tomorrow, or any date. It sounds on every device. • Every unticked checklist item from every note, in one Tasks list, each note under its folder. Tick it there and it is ticked in the note. CONNECT YOUR THOUGHTS • Type [[ to link a note to another. Every note shows what links to it, where it is mentioned without a link (one tap makes it one), and what is like it. • Follow a link and come back: on the Mac, Back and Forward take you through the pages you opened. • Pictures inside notes, larger with a tap. Share a page from Safari with a passage selected, and it is kept as a quote with its link. FIND IT AGAIN • One search over everything, in any form of a word. The sidebar narrows to where it turned up, and the words are highlighted. • What you copied and never kept is found too, in the same list. • Spotlight finds your notes too. MADE FOR IPHONE DUO • Open it and your list and your note stand side by side, each on its own page when the phone is half open. What you were reading stays open as you open and close it. • Open Beside keeps one note on the first page while you read or write another on the second. On iPad too. • Stand it on a table to think aloud: the wave on the half that stands, your words on the half under your hand. • Drag a passage, a link or a picture across from the app beside Chute, and it is kept. PRIVATE BY DESIGN • Everything stays on your devices and in your own iCloud. No account, no tracking, no ads. • Sorting suggestions are made on your device. • On the same Wi-Fi, your Mac and iPhone talk directly, encrypted with a key only your devices share. BRING WHAT YOU ALREADY HAVE • On the Mac, import from Apple Notes (with pictures), Obsidian and Notion. • Works with AI assistants through MCP, so the one you already use can read and add to your Chute. One purchase for Mac, iPhone and iPad.

  • This app hasn’t received enough ratings or reviews to display an overview.

• Notes read as they are written. Bold, italic, struck-through words, code, quotes, rules and links are shown as such, and the asterisks and brackets stay out of sight until you write in that line. • Back and Forward. Arrows above the page, and ⌃⌘← and ⌃⌘→, take you to the note you came from and back again. • What links to a note, and what is like it, now takes a line under the note instead of a list. • The window opens the size you left it, with the note as the widest column. View → Default Column Widths puts the columns back. • Copies made while Chute was closed on your iPhone reach it the moment it opens, and what you copy on the iPhone joins the Clipboard list. • An imported page no longer says its name twice. Notes imported earlier are tidied once, and a copy of the library is kept first. • Drag and drop. A note onto a folder, the Inbox, Pinned, a tag or the Trash; a folder into a folder; a file from the Finder straight into a folder; a note onto another note's page to link them. • Search finds what you copied too, in the same list as what you kept. • Tasks stand under their folders, so you see which project each belongs to.
