German Alphabet takes you from zero to writing and reading the German alphabet (das deutsche Alphabet) and its spelling-to-sound patterns.
HANDWRITING PRACTICE
- 40 items: 5 vowels, 3 umlauts (ä ö ü), 22 consonants including ß, and 10 digraphs
- Trace on a grid with animated stroke-order demonstrations
- Every letter comes with its name, its IPA and a memory aid
- Undo and redo when you slip
SYLLABLE CHART
- 17 consonants (including sch) x 5 vowels = 85 syllables, each one traceable
- German is mostly spelled the way it sounds, so consonant plus vowel gives you the syllable

LISTEN AND LEARN
- Consonant and vowel charts: tap a letter to hear it, long-press to copy it
- Adjustable speech speed and slow replay
- Pronunciation follows Standard German
- Some audio is real-voice recordings from Wikimedia Commons (Lingua Libre) released under CC0; the rest is synthesized with Thorsten, an open-source Piper voice (all CC0)

- Practice all letters, only consonants or only vowels
- Daily review scheduled with Leitner five-box spaced repetition, so missed letters come back more often

- A Germany-themed 3D park with dirndl and lederhosen outfits, Neuschwanstein Castle, a beer-garden table, half-timbered houses, Christmas-market huts, a cuckoo clock and a pretzel stand; cats and dogs live there, and tapping a person plays a greeting in German
