Rechenweg Informatik
Automata, graphs & algorithms
Free · In‑App Purchases · Designed for iPad. Not verified for macOS.
Automata, Dijkstra, RSA, floating point: every calculation with the complete solution path in exam format. Sixteen computer science modules, every method as a chart.
Rechenweg Informatik shows you how a method runs step by step: from the finite automaton through Dijkstra and RSA to the floating point number. Every problem comes with the complete step by step solution in exam format, with formula, values inserted and intermediate results. Every method also runs as a chart that you advance step by step. The calculation cores are tested against a second calculation. This is free for one example per method, and with Pro for your own numbers.
SIXTEEN MODULES
• Finite automata: DFA and NFA, subset construction as a table, ε-transitions, minimization
• Regular and context-free languages: pumping lemma as a guided proof, grammars, derivation trees, pushdown automata and CYK
• Turing machines and computability: configuration sequence, design, decidability, reduction, and P and NP
• Graph algorithms: breadth-first search, Dijkstra, Bellman-Ford, Kruskal, Prim and Ford-Fulkerson
• Sorting and complexity: sorting methods as a trace, counting comparisons, big-O notation and the master theorem
• Search trees and hashing: search trees, AVL rotations, heaps, hashing with chaining, probing and double hashing
• Cryptology: Caesar, extended Euclid, square-and-multiply, RSA by hand, Diffie-Hellman and ElGamal
• Numerics and floating point: double as a row of bits, rounding, cancellation, condition, LU decomposition and Newton
• Optimization: graphical solution, primal and dual simplex, dualization and the transportation problem
• Operating systems and concurrency: scheduling, page replacement, the banker's algorithm, semaphores and Petri nets
• Image processing: convolution, edge filters, histogram, thresholding and morphology
• Coding and error detection: parity, Hamming code, CRC as polynomial division and checksums
• Computer architecture: flip-flops, sequential circuits, memory hierarchy, cache and hit rate
• Discrete mathematics: propositional logic, sets, relations, mappings and induction
• Linear algebra: vectors, lines and planes, Gaussian elimination, determinants and eigenvalues
• IT security: protection goals, hash functions, MAC and signature, PKI, TLS handshake and firewall rules
Every module has a calculator, an example, problems in four levels, true-or-false questions, a glossary and charts.
PRACTISE AND EXAM
The trainer starts with worked examples, hides steps one by one and finally lets you calculate on your own. Your solution is checked, and typical mistakes are named. The practice exam can follow the layout of a real exam. You enter your exam date, and the app shows the countdown and spreads the material backwards from that date as a learning plan. An optional learning reminder (at most one a day) and a widget with the countdown keep you on track.
FREE AND PRO
Free: every calculator with result and formula, one worked example per method with the complete solution path, problems of the first level and the exam date with countdown.
Pro: complete solution path for your own numbers, problems of levels 2 to 4 with feedback on typical mistakes, practice exam, repetition at the right time, daily plan and learning plan, exam readiness and export of the solution path as PDF. Pro keeps growing: we keep adding new problems and topics.
Pro is available as a monthly, a semester (6 months) and a yearly subscription. The monthly subscription starts with a free trial of 7 days if you have not used one before. The store shows price and term before you buy. The subscription renews automatically unless you cancel at least 24 hours before it ends. You can manage and cancel it any time in your Apple ID settings.
A learning and calculation aid, no guarantee of exam success. No account, no advertising: your learning progress stays on your device.

Ratings & Reviews
- This app hasn’t received enough ratings or reviews to display an overview.
New in Coding and error detection: the solution path names the limits of parity bits, Hamming codes and CRC.
Learning plan: if time runs short, the app shows how many extra minutes a day are enough. Progress says whether it counts for today or for exam day.
Easier to read: exponents are superscripts, charts have clearer labels, and titles fit with large text.
Also: the practice exam mixes the modules more evenly, and your progress is saved more reliably.
