Pictove is a paid, offline nonogram authoring tool. Draw pixel artwork or convert a photo, check the resulting number clues, test-solve and print puzzle books with matching answer keys. One purchase includes every tool.
YOUR PICTURE
Create 5–20-cell-wide and tall monochrome grids. Fill or erase, undo/redo strokes, flip, rotate and invert. PNG/JPEG photo conversion offers a threshold and invert preview before you commit. Images are centered aspect-fit against white; you can edit the resulting cells. No original photo is retained.
CHECK THE CLUES
The real search engine checks the number clues and your explicit given cells. One solution means exhaustive search found exactly one answer. Multiple means two different answers were found; highlight where they differ. Add one resolving given or edit the picture, then validate again. Search limit reached means inconclusive, never a unique guarantee. Validation does not rate difficulty or promise solving without guessing.
TEST BEFORE SHARING
Switch to Solve and rebuild the picture from its clues. Mark filled or blank cells, clear, undo/redo, check your marks, reveal a selected cell and restart. Given cells stay locked. Artwork edits reset progress. Save up to 40 named local pictures, search, duplicate or delete them. First launch is empty; optional original pixel studies demonstrate the tools.
PRINT THE RESULT
Export A4 or US Letter Puzzles.pdf and separate AnswerKeys.pdf. Select up to 20 pictures for a book, one puzzle per page, with answers in the same order. Preview the actual PDFs and share through system sharing.
The current picture also exports Puzzle.png, Answer.png, a vector clue/grid Puzzle.svg and a restorable Pictove.json containing the title, instructions, cells, givens and test progress. JSON import creates a new local project ID. The photo original is not part of JSON. Book selection affects PDFs only; PNG/SVG/JSON always use the current picture.
PRIVATE, PURCHASED ONCE
No subscriptions, IAP, ads, account, tracking, analytics or app network requests. Your files stay local until you use system sharing. Device backups follow your settings. Export backups before deleting pictures or uninstalling. Share only content you own or may use.
SCOPE
Monochrome picture logic, 5–20 cells per axis. PNG/JPEG imports up to 10 MiB/20 megapixels, JSON up to 1 MiB. Search stops at 20,000 nodes or 3 seconds. A resolving given is chosen from two differing solutions; no minimum-hint guarantee. Empty lines show 0 clues. All cells need fill or a blank mark for test completion. No daily puzzle catalog, community, online publishing, AI, cloud synchronization, difficulty grading, printer compatibility or publishing-platform acceptance guarantee. Review each puzzle and its outputs before distributing. SVG font appearance depends on the receiving app.
