Chondrite
Periodic table for geoscience
$9.99
118 elements, 9 lenses, and 7 tools for geochemistry, from ionic radii and rare earth plots to isotope dating. One purchase, no accounts, works offline.
Chondrite is a periodic table built for geoscience. It has the element properties you expect, and it adds what geochemists and students of earth science look up all the time: ionic radii, crustal abundance, condensation temperature, isotopes, and chondrite reference values.
Pick an element to see its details. Color the whole table by any of 9 lenses to see patterns at a glance.
9 lenses
- Block
- Goldschmidt classification: lithophile, siderophile, chalcophile, and atmophile
- Crustal abundance
- Condensation temperature
- Ionic radius
- Electronegativity
- Isotopes
- Elements of life
- Biominerals: the elements that build shells, bones, and teeth, and those that record past conditions
7 tools
- Substitution finder: pick an ion and see which others can replace it in a crystal, ranked by charge and radius
- Rare earth plotter: chondrite normalized rare earth patterns for up to 4 samples, with Eu/Eu*, Ce/Ce*, (La/Yb)N, and total REE. Paste from a spreadsheet or import a CSV file
- Formula and mass: molar mass, element weight percent, and oxide weight percent from any mineral formula
- Compare: up to 4 elements side by side
- Radiometric dating: ages from U-Pb, K-Ar, isochron (York regression), parent and daughter, and radiocarbon data, with optional 1σ errors and the geologic period for each result
- Chemistry calculator: mass and moles, molarity with the mass to weigh, dilution, the ideal gas law, and percent yield, in the units you have
- Glossary: 187 terms in plain language, from atomic number to York regression, with search and links between related terms
Search finds elements, and it finds minerals too. Type forsterite and the table lights up magnesium, silicon, and oxygen.
Data comes from published sources, cited in the app: CIAAW for atomic weights, NIST for isotopes, Shannon (1976) for ionic radii, Lodders (2003, 2021) and McDonough and Sun (1995) for chondrite and condensation values, Rudnick and Gao (2003) for the continental crust, and PubChem for physical properties.
Chondrite is a reference and teaching tool. Dating errors come only from the 1σ errors you enter and leave out decay constant uncertainty, and the radiocarbon result is the conventional age in years before present, the figure labs report before calibration.
A one-time purchase. No subscriptions, no accounts, no ads, and no tracking. Chondrite works entirely on your device with no internet connection.
