The pads, strings and synths of 90s console soundtracks, on your iPad. simpleSPU recreates the sound chip behind a generation of late-90s game music: compressed samples, gritty pitch shifting and those big, washy console reverbs. Play it on its own, or load it as an AUv3 instrument in GarageBand and your other music apps. 109 INSTRUMENTS Pads, strings, choirs, leads, basses, keys, bells, mallets, atmospheres and drum kits. Many were built from new recordings and tuned by ear against the original console sound, then made fully original and royalty-free, so everything you make is yours to release. MADE FOR THE IPAD • Fills GarageBand's instrument pane with a wide layout sized for it, so there's no tiny window to squint at. • Drum kits swap the keyboard for big drum pads you can tap. • Works in portrait or landscape as a standalone app. THE CRUSH PAGE Push any sound from clean to crunchy. Lower the bit depth and sample rate, switch between 8-bit and 4-bit sample compression, or turn on disc stream mode for the grit of music streamed straight off a CD. Each preset can put the crush on the mod wheel, so you can play it. CONSOLE REVERB Rooms modelled on the console's own reverb, from small studios to big halls, with mix and space controls. simpleSPU FX INCLUDED The same crush and reverb as an AUv3 effect for any track: drums, vocals, guitar or a whole mix. 18 effect presets get you started. AND A MASCOT She's drawn live on screen and reacts to what you play. The mascot now reacts to you. She dances to the beat, looks at the keys you play, winces when you turn up CRUSH and goes "ooh" when you add SPACE. Tap her and see what happens, and if you leave her alone for a while she dozes off. The simpleSPU name now animates when the app opens. Section labels now fit their text.
