Press Option-N in any app to open a floating Markdown note. Your notes stay as plain .md files in a folder you choose. No account, no telemetry. Capture ideas without leaving your work. Markraft is a floating Markdown notepad for Mac that keeps your notes as plain .md files. Press Option-N to show or hide your note over the current app. Write a quick thought, collect a reference, or keep a checklist beside your work. WRITE AND SEE THE FORMATTING Use headings, task lists, tables, [[wiki links]], highlighted code blocks, and LaTeX math. Markdown formatting appears as you type. KEEP YOUR FILES Choose your notes folder and open your files in other Markdown editors. You can also use an existing Obsidian vault as your notes folder. WORK FROM THE KEYBOARD Find notes, browse commands, and insert blocks with keyboard shortcuts. Optional Vim mode supports common editing motions and commands. DAILY NOTES AND EXPORT Keep a dated daily note. Export a note as HTML or PDF, or print it. LOCAL NOTES, NO ACCOUNT Markraft requires no account and sends no app telemetry. Editing local notes works offline. Images linked from the web require a network connection and can be disabled. For file syncing between Macs, choose a folder in iCloud Drive or another sync service. Syncing is handled by that service. Built for macOS 13 or later. Open source.
