CAM'99: VHS Tape Camcorder
Make tapes, not camera rolls
Only for iPhone
Free · In‑App Purchases · Designed for iPhone. Not verified for macOS.
iPhone
Three tapes free. Put one in, press the red button and let it run out: a little film of your summer, every clip in order, with the look baked in.
CAM'99 is an iPhone camera that records onto tapes.
Put in a tape and press the red button. Every clip lands after the last one, with the tape's look baked in. When the minutes run out, the tab snaps and the tape is finished, like a real one: a little film of your weekend, your trip, your summer.
ONE TAPE, ONE LOOK
Each tape brand is one complete look, fixed for the whole tape.
• SUNDAY: warm and golden, like a family camcorder in 1996
• NITELIFE: hot and saturated, the video light at a party
• AQUA DV: sharp and cool, a MiniDV in 2001
• MATINEE: cinema mode on an S-VHS-C camcorder
No filters to scroll, no sliders. To change the look, put in another tape.
ONE RED BUTTON
Recording is one button: it starts and stops. Press STAMP to print the date on your clips. Tick TOWNS on a tape and its index card notes the town each clip was recorded in.
WATCH IT BACK
Write a name on the label, keep your tapes on the shelf, and play them from the start, with each brand's own cut between clips.
SEND IT
Save the whole tape, a short trailer or one clip to Photos, or share it anywhere. No watermark.
YOURS
• No account, no sign-up, no feed.
• Your tapes stay on your phone.
• Recording never asks for money.
BLANK TAPES
Your first three tapes are free. Blank tapes come in lengths from 1 minute to 2 hours, for each brand. No subscription. Blank tapes you buy show up on your other iPhones signed in to the same Apple Account.
