A picture dictionary for children who can see a word but cannot read it yet. Type the letters, or say it out loud.
Some words a child can see but cannot read. EaseKid Dict is for exactly that moment.
TYPE IT
A child copies the letters off the page onto a keyboard that has nothing on it but letters. Back comes a picture, the word read aloud, and a meaning written in words a six-year-old already knows.
OR SAY IT
A child says a word and gets its spelling. Because flower and flour sound the same, the words that sound alike are offered too, each with its own picture, so the child can choose by looking instead of by reading.
WRITTEN FOR THE AGE
Every explanation is held to the words a child of that grade has actually met. "A furry pet that barks and wags its tail", not "a domesticated canine mammal". Set the grade once and the labels follow it: a grade-2 child is told "because" is a joining word, a grade-5 child that it is a conjunction.
READS EVERYTHING ALOUD
The child this is built for cannot read the answer yet, so hearing it is the answer.
WORKS WITH NO CONNECTION
More than 1,000 words answer with nothing but the app: a picture, a short meaning, and the word read aloud.
FREE, AND PRIVATE
No subscription. No in-app purchase. No advertising. No account, and no third-party analytics of any kind. Nothing that identifies a child is collected or sent anywhere - the name you can set for the greeting is stored on the device and never leaves it.
