Wrong dates, missing locations, cryptic file names? Fix the metadata of hundreds of photos and videos in one go, with a preview of every change before you save. rExif is the metadata editor for photos and videos on your Mac: fix the capture date, add a location, rename files, and set author, copyright, and keywords, on one photo or thousands at once. Every change shows up in orange as a preview before it's written to your files. THE RIGHT DATES, EVEN IN BULK • Shift every date by an interval, for example when the camera clock was an hour behind. • Correct a camera's clock from one photo whose exact time you know. • Get the date from the file name (IMG_20230514_123456, WhatsApp, screenshots, Pixel…), the folder name, or Google Takeout JSON files. • Assign dates in sequence, fill in missing ones from their neighbors, change the time zone. • Align file creation and modification dates with the capture date in one click. LOCATION ON THE MAP • Drag photos onto the map to set their location, or search for a place by name. • Take the location from the photo closest in time, from a GPX track (Strava, Garmin…), or from Google Takeout. • City, state, and country from the coordinates. • Before sharing, export copies without location or personal data. TEXT, KEYWORDS, AND NAMES • Camera, lens, description, author, and copyright. • Templates with placeholders such as "© {year} Jane Smith", plus find and replace across every item. • Keywords and star ratings, also read by Lightroom. • Batch rename with a template, for example "{date}_{nnn}". WORK FAST • A table with customizable columns, search, and quick selection: no date, no location, suspicious dates, by camera… • Copy metadata from one photo and paste it onto others. • Undo and redo every change; Quick Look with the space bar. • Export and import metadata as CSV to fix it in a spreadsheet. EVERY FORMAT • JPEG, HEIC, PNG, and TIFF: metadata rewritten without recompressing the image. • MOV, MP4, and M4V videos: metadata rewritten without re-encoding. • RAW (CR2, NEF, ARW…) and AVI, MKV, MTS videos: the file stays untouched and metadata goes into an .xmp next to it, read by Lightroom, Bridge, and Premiere. • Photos library: change the date and location right in Photos, or export the originals. PRIVATE AND NATIVE • No account, no tracking: your photos never leave your Mac. • Open photos and folders by dragging them into the window or onto the Dock icon, or with "Open With…" in Finder. • Reopens your previous session; light, dark, or automatic appearance; interface in English and Italian.
