Gear trains, planetary sets, cycloidal drives: design them, watch them turn, check the loads, and export SVG, DXF, STEP, STL or OBJ for laser, CNC, CAD and 3D printing. Gear Generator designs involute gears and whole gear trains, shows them turning, and exports them ready to cut, mill or print. DESIGN • Spur, internal and rack gears, planetary gear sets, chain sprockets (ISO 606) and timing belt pulleys • Number of teeth, module or diametral pitch, pressure angle, profile shift and backlash • Gears that mesh, gears on the same axle, and whole trains of them, with the ratio and speed of every wheel • Shaft holes and joints: round, D-flat, double-D, keyway (DIN 6885), hex and square, nut traps (ISO 4032), and screw holes on a bolt circle • Helical, double helical and herringbone teeth, shown in the 3D view • Metric or imperial units; type maths with units into any field (10mm+0.5in) SIMULATE • The whole train turns, driven from one or more gears, and you can turn it by hand • Backlash as lost motion: a reversed drive crosses the gaps mesh by mesh • Torque, power and tooth forces through the train, with contact ratios, undercut and interference checked as you go • Warnings say what is wrong and how to fix it EXPORT • SVG and DXF for laser cutting, CNC and CAD drawings • STEP for CAD: exact solids you can edit, measure and machine • STL and OBJ for 3D printing and 3D modelling • Exact tooth shapes: the curves stay within 2 µm of the true involute, or as close as you set AND • Your designs as .gg files, opened with a double-click; Gear Generator 2 files and share links open too • Undo and redo, light, blueprint and dark themes, 2D and 3D views • A complete user manual in the app: every control, what the numbers mean, and what to check before a file goes to a machine • Works offline; nothing about your work leaves your Mac One purchase for one user: install it on the Macs signed in to your Apple Account.

• Cycloidal and clock teeth: a new Tooth profile setting (Involute, Cycloidal, Clock) on spur gears, internal gears and racks. Cycloidal gears that share a rolling circle all mesh; clock wheels and pinions follow BS 978 Part 2. • The cycloidal drive, a new part type: a ring of pins, a lobed disc on an eccentric and output pins, a reducer of N − 1 to 1 in a single stage. • Four new centre holes for every wheel: a cross axle, a straight spline (ISO 14), an involute spline (DIN 5480) and a servo spline. • Gear labels sit by the teeth, clear of the screw holes.
