Booray, or Bourré, is the trick-taking card game of Cajun country, and Booray Bayou deals it on a lantern-lit porch over the bayou. You play against ten painted critters, and each plays its own way: Boudreaux the crawfish stays in on almost anything, and Pearl the possum sits out unless her hand is sure.
Every hand you make the call. Look at your cards and the turned-up trump, then stay in or sit out. Stay in and you can swap cards from the stock, then the tricks begin: follow suit, beat the card on the table if you can, trump when you can't. Take the most tricks for the hand bonus. Take none at all and that's a booray.
