Nuansel: Thread Colors
Floss Match for Cross Stitch
Free · Designed for iPad. Not verified for macOS.
Compare thread codes, explore approximate photo matches and export your current shopping list as PDF or CSV. All features work offline.
Nuansel helps you find thread substitutes for embroidery and cross stitch. Look up a shade number, compare the recorded cross-references and explore nearby digital colors. The bundled library contains 489 DMC reference shades with cross-references to Anchor, Sullivans, J&P Coats and Maxi Mouline.
• Convert between the codes included in the library. Where no cross-reference is recorded, compare approximate alternatives.
• Select an existing photo and sample a color, or use the color picker to find nearby reference shades.
• Browse the bundled shades and search by number or name.
• Build your current project shopping list, enter skein quantities and share a CSV or printable PDF shade card.
Color matching uses CIEDE2000 to compare the stored reference color values. These digital comparisons do not establish an identical physical thread match. The other brands are cross-references to DMC rows, not independently measured color catalogues.
All features work offline. No account, advertising, analytics or in-app purchases. Buy once; no subscription.
Nuansel is independent and is not endorsed by or affiliated with any thread manufacturer. Brand names identify the numbering systems. Cross-references and color matches are guides: lighting, screens, photographs and dye lots affect appearance. Compare physical threads when the shade is critical.
