Sound Check by SENNET™
SPL meter & RTA for live sound
$24.99 · Designed for iPad. Not verified for macOS.
iPad
Built for running a show: log the night against its limits, add markers as things happen, and export the report. Plus your own Daily Dose of noise exposure.
Sound Check is an iPad measurement toolkit for live sound.
Use it to set up and tune a PA, find feedback, measure levels through sound check and rehearsal, log an entire performance against its limits, and keep track of your own noise exposure while you work.
SHOW MODE
Log an entire performance on one timeline, with an RTA, FFT or Spectrogram running underneath.
Arm the show, hit GO, and add markers as things happen: interval start and end, show stops, incidents or general notes. Each lands at the current time so you can add it without looking away from the mix.
Trigger GO and markers from your console or playback system using MIDI over USB, network or Bluetooth, or OSC. Use Learn to assign each trigger.
Set the show's assessment limits and Sound Check tracks LAeq 15 min, LAeq 1 hr, LCeq 15 min and LCpeak against them live, so you can see how much room you have left throughout the performance.
After the show, scrub through the timeline, edit markers, trim it and export a PDF report in A4 or US Letter. The report includes the level graph, markers, readings, calibration and result against the show's limits.
DAILY DOSE
Keep track of your own noise exposure whenever Sound Check is listening.
The Quilt shows each hour by level and duration, so a short loud period reads differently from a long one. View your exposure by Today, Week or Month, with history kept for as long as you use the app.
Choose NIOSH, OSHA or EU exposure criteria, and set when your working day rolls over so late-night shows count towards the right day.
SPL METER
Live SPL on a clear gauge with Max, Average and LCpeak.
Choose Slow, Fast or Impulse response, A, C or Z weighting, set a threshold directly on the gauge, and scrub back through the level timeline.
RTA
Choose 1/1, 1/3, 1/6 or 1/12 octave resolution.
Peak Hold, Max Hold and Freeze are built in, along with feedback detection that identifies the ringing frequency when something starts to take off.
FFT
Up to 32k points, with four window types, averaging and smoothing.
Sound Check automatically labels the strongest tones, shows harmonic markers, and lets you capture a reference trace and view the difference against it.
SPECTROGRAM
See frequency against time from 20 Hz to 20 kHz, with up to two minutes of history.
Move the cursor anywhere on the display to read the level at that point, or use peak tracking to follow the loudest frequency automatically.
SIGNAL GENERATOR
Generate sine, square, pink noise, white noise, sweep and polarity pulse signals.
Send the polarity pulse through a speaker and Sound Check can tell you whether the result is normal or inverted.
CALCULATORS
Eight calculators for the questions that come up at the console:
Delay and distance, frequency and wavelength, comb filtering, level summing and subtraction, dBu and dBV, amplifier and load calculations, and predicted SPL at distance.
CALIBRATION
Match Sound Check to a trusted handheld reference meter in about a minute.
Calibration is stored separately for each microphone or audio interface you use. Anything uncalibrated is clearly marked UNCALIBRATED, in the app and on every report.
Sound Check is a measurement aid, not a certified Class 1 sound level meter.
HONEST NUMBERS
If Sound Check cannot correctly calculate an A- or C-weighted value, it tells you rather than showing a number that only looks believable.
Those periods are also excluded from the final show results.
A wrong number is worse than no number.
YOUR SHOWS
Keep every show together in one library, organised into Projects or created as a Quick Show.
Search, rename, share by AirDrop or delete shows directly from the library. Deleted shows remain recoverable for 30 days, and optional iCloud Backup keeps a copy of your library safe.
BUILT FOR THE SHOW
Run any of the four analysers full screen when you want to leave one visible throughout a performance.
Works in portrait and landscape.
One-time purchase. No subscription. No in-app purchases.
