Two armies face each other across a line of lightning. Line up three to strike, three abreast to hold. Four armies, eight commanders and a story told in four acts. Two armies face each other across a line of lightning. Line up three of a colour in a file and they strike. Line up three in a rank and they hold as a wall. Linebreakers is a turn-based puzzle battler for a phone held in one hand. You have three actions a turn. Spend them well and you earn more. HOW A BATTLE GOES • Carry the unit at the back of a file to the back of another. • Three of a colour in a file become a strike. It waits a turn or more, then goes up the file. • Three of a colour in a rank become a wall. • Dismiss a unit to close a gap. If that completes a strike or a wall, the action is free. • Call up the units waiting behind your line. • Guards and giants need line units of their colour behind them. They strike hardest, and each has an ability of its own. • Strikes of one colour that land on the same turn are a volley, and each hits harder for it. What a strike has left when it reaches the far edge comes off the enemy commander's health. FOUR ARMIES • Stormriders. Sky nomads with lightning lances. Quick to strike. • Forgeborn. Smith clans and the engines they build. Heavy, and hard on walls. • Tidebound. Reef folk who call the sea. They mend their commander and empty your power. • Duskcourt. A lantern-lit court in moth-wing cloaks. They take your actions and keep them. Each army has three line units, two guards, two giants and a wall of its own. EIGHT COMMANDERS Every commander has a power on a meter that fills as blows land. Tailwind brings every strike a turn nearer. Eruption sends a blow up every enemy file. Raise the Gate puts a wall at the front of every file you hold. Curfew takes two actions from the enemy's next turn. A STORY IN FOUR ACTS One span of the Stormline has gone dark. The sky people blame the forge people. The forge people blame them back. You set out as Sana, a young Stormrider captain, and a commander from another people leads each act after hers. • Fifty stops on four painted maps. • Battles, boss battles and one-turn puzzles. • Eight narrated scenes. • Guards, giants and relics to find and carry with you. FREE BATTLES Choose a commander, the two guards or giants you bring, and one relic to carry. Then fight the computer on Easy, Normal or Hard across nine battlefields, from a short even fight to full armies with a hundred health each. ONLINE • Take a quick match, or play a friend with a room code. • If nobody is waiting, fight the computer instead. • Powers and relics stay out of online play, so the fight is even. • No chat and no typed names. You play under a callsign the game gives you. MADE FOR THE PHONE • Portrait, one hand, big pieces. • Every army colour has a shape of its own, so colour is never the only cue. • The first battles teach by showing. A hand points at each move. • Tap any piece to see what it does. • Sound, music, haptics and reduced flashing each have a switch. • No ads. No timers. No energy. Nothing you can buy makes an army stronger. • No account. The story and free battles play offline. FREE TO START Linebreakers is free to download. The lessons and the whole of act one are free, with battles led by Sana of the Stormriders or Brannoc of the Forgeborn. One purchase unlocks the full game. It adds acts two, three and four, six more commanders, and the Tidebound and Duskcourt armies. You pay once and keep it. There is no subscription. PRICE AND TERMS The full game is a single in-app purchase of $4.99 (USD). The price may differ in other countries.
