A featherweight menu bar app that watches your IMAP inboxes in real time and shows the unread count exactly where you already look. Private by design, no tracking. digoMailCheck is the lightest way to keep an eye on your mail. It lives in your macOS menu bar as a single red number and tells you the moment new unread mail arrives - no app to open, no inbox to scan. REAL-TIME, NOT POLLING digoMailCheck holds an IMAP IDLE connection open for every folder you watch, so a message shows up the instant the server has it, not on the next scheduled check. Where a server will not IDLE, it quietly falls back to polling on your own interval. ONE RED NUMBER The unread count sits on your menu bar and keeps itself current. New mail slides in as a notification with sender and subject, and an optional sound. Open the dropdown for a per-account and per-folder breakdown. EVERY MAILBOX, EVERY FOLDER Add as many accounts as you like and pick exactly which folders to watch, each on its own real-time connection. Presets fill in host and port for the usual providers - Gmail, Yahoo, iCloud, AOL, Rackspace, 1&1 - and anything else that speaks IMAP with a password sign-in works too. Gmail, iCloud, Yahoo and AOL use an app-specific password. PRIVATE BY DESIGN Your passwords are stored in the macOS Keychain, never in a config file. digoMailCheck speaks classic IMAP, encrypted via TLS or STARTTLS. An unencrypted connection is only used if you explicitly choose it for an account, with a warning, for trusted local networks. No OAuth handoff, no web dashboard, no companion service, no analytics, no tracking. It is built entirely on Apple system frameworks, with no third-party code bundled and nothing phoning home. What you watch stays on your Mac. SPEAKS YOUR LANGUAGE Eleven languages (English, German, French, Spanish, Italian, Portuguese, Dutch, Russian, Japanese, Simplified Chinese, Korean), following your macOS language automatically, overridable any time.
