The Castle Road is a portrait, pixel-art, first-person melee game. Light your torch at the forest edge and walk 4.54 km of storm, forest and stone to the castle on the hill. WALK THE ROAD Sixteen places stand between you and the crown deck: the valley road, a roadside inn, the village chapel, the cliff path, the switchbacks, the castle gate, the great hall, the tower and the spire. READ EVERY BLOW Every enemy shows its attack before it lands. Swipe to slash, swipe down for a heavy blow, tap to thrust, hold to block, and time a perfect block to stagger them. Wolves, bandits, brutes, skeletons, parapet archers and armored knights each fight their own way. KEEP THE FLAME ALIVE Your torch is your light and your weapon. It burns fuel as you walk, and when it runs low the dark closes in. FACE THE LANTERN KING At the top waits the Lantern King, a final boss in three phases. In the last one, only his lantern and your torch light the arena. GROW STRONGER Collect embers along the road and spend them on upgrades: vigor, wind, oil flask, pitch, steady hand and whetstone. Free players restart from the forest edge and lose their embers. The Castle Road Pass removes ads, lets you respawn at checkpoints and keep your embers, opens the Store and adds a weekly ember gift. It is an auto-renewable subscription, yearly with a 3-day free trial or monthly; the price is shown before you buy, and you can cancel any time in your App Store settings.
