Tap a key and a warm pad fills the room until you stop it. Six sounds, all 12 keys, smooth crossfades between keys. Works offline, no account.
Pads plays a sustained ambient pad in the key of your song. It is the glue of a live set: it holds between songs while the band tunes or counts in, sits under announcements and speaking, and sets the mood before the doors open. Bands, worship teams, theatre, ceremonies and live events all use a pad this way.
Tap one of the 12 keys and the pad swells in. Tap another key and the pad crossfades to it, so you can move between songs without a gap. Tap the playing key again and the pad fades out gently.
Six sounds, made in real time on your device:
- Warm: soft and round, the classic warm pad
- Sky: bright, open and airy
- Shimmer: glassy octaves high above the root
- Strings: a slow, wide string section
- Organ: a gentle drawbar organ
- Dark Ambient: low, deep and spacious
Every pad plays the root, fifth and octave, without the third, so it fits songs in major and in minor.
Shape the sound for your room:
- Low cut and high cut on one filter curve, to keep the pad out of the way of bass and vocals
- The filter curve shows the live spectrum of the pad behind it
- Crossfade time from 0.5 to 8 seconds, on a knob
- Volume on a fader next to the keys, like a mixing desk
- Stereo or mono output, for a single speaker or a mono mixer channel
- Octave switch under the keys: one octave down, the middle register, or one octave up
- Tuning: A4 at 440 Hz, or 432 or 442 Hz to match the band
- Key names with sharps or flats
- Your settings are kept when you close the app
- About shows the version, with links to the website and the contact form, and a button to rate Pads
Made for the stage:
- Big white square keys; the key that is playing turns aqua and glows
- Dark screen that stays dim on a dark stage
- Keeps playing in the background and with the screen locked
- Option to keep the screen on
- Music from other apps stops when a pad starts; Live mode shows how to turn on Do Not Disturb before the show
- MIDI controller mapping, with ready-made layouts for the Korg nanoKONTROL2, Akai MPK Mini mk3 and Arturia MiniLab 3. USB and Bluetooth MIDI controllers can be connected
