Month after month you hire your team, win customers and grow your revenue, then raise money from investors and look for the right moment to sell. Any sale wins the game. Sell for $10 million and it's a big exit. Reach a billion and you're a unicorn — if you can. BUILD YOUR TEAM • Hire sales, product, technology, customer support, operations, managers and executives. • Every role matters: without technology there is nothing to sell, and an overstretched team loses customers. • Keep an eye on team morale. GROW YOUR BUSINESS • Watch customers, revenue, costs, cash and runway month by month. • Grow from Pre-Seed in a garage to Series C in a glass tower. • Ride your luck: big contracts, press coverage and helpful advisors, but also recessions, security issues and star employees leaving. RAISE MONEY, THEN SELL • Raise Seed, Series A, B and C rounds as your company grows. • Every deal goes through months of meetings, due diligence and negotiation, and can stall. • Accept or refuse each offer, and decide when to sell. • Your payout depends on how much of the company you still own.
