Two games at a Moroccan café table: dama with soda caps, and chess. Take on El Haj Brahim, or a real player online, 1 vs 1.
Dama & Chess El Haj Brahim brings two games to a Moroccan café table, in 3D: the café dama, played with soda bottle caps, and chess, with wooden pieces. A glass of mint tea on the side and, across the table, opponents who move their pieces by hand, right in front of you. The toughest of them is El Haj Brahim.
CHESS
• All the rules: castling, en passant, promotion, checkmate, stalemate and draws.
• Against the computer: a café regular waits at the table, with three levels (easy, medium, strong).
• El Haj Brahim plays with the Stockfish engine, with no limits. Hold out as long as you can, earn a draw, or beat him for 50 flouss.
• Online 1 vs 1: a real random opponent, or a private table with a code to share; 10 minutes on the clock each, and whoever runs out of time loses.
• When the game ends, the defeated king lies down on the board.
• At chess, El Haj Brahim and the café regulars stay calm: they speak rarely, and wisely, in Moroccan Darija.
• A separate chess leaderboard: online wins, and the players who held their own against El Haj Brahim.
MOROCCAN DAMA
• 8 × 8 board, played on the dark squares; twelve caps each on the first three rows.
• A man moves one square diagonally forward and captures forward by jumping over an enemy piece; the capture goes on as long as another jump is possible.
• Capturing is mandatory, and so is taking the most pieces.
• Nfakh (the huff): whoever fails to capture (or takes fewer than the biggest capture) gets the faulty piece removed by the opponent, who then plays.
• A man that reaches the far row becomes a king: the cap is flipped over, with “ضامة” written inside. The king flies along the whole diagonal and captures from a distance.
• You lose when you have no piece or no move left. Draws by repetition, after 25 moves each without a capture or a man moving, or with kings alone.
• Against the computer: three levels and three game speeds. El Haj Brahim, twenty years unbeaten in this café, comments every move in Moroccan Darija: beat him for 50 flouss and join the champions’ leaderboard.
• Online 1 vs 1: 30 seconds per move, and an absent player is replaced automatically.
• The winner celebrates: a chaabi dance at the table, under the confetti.
FOR BOTH GAMES
• Table text chat with emojis, plus reporting and blocking of players.
• No internet? Play two-player over Wi-Fi or a phone hotspot.
• Shop: for dama, caps in every color, stones (pebbles, marble, jade, turquoise), wooden pieces and golden caps; boards (café table, cardboard, zellige, marble, thuya); glasses and café rooms. Everything unlocks with flouss earned by playing: nothing to pay.
• Your own character, café regulars who each have their own face, hands that really play, several cameras and a free camera.
• A 3D Moroccan café (zellige, lanterns, mint tea) whose graphics adapt to your phone.
• Interface in Moroccan Darija, French and English.
The game is free and contains ads (a banner during play, an occasional interstitial between games, and an optional video to earn flouss). In the European Economic Area, the UK and Switzerland, your consent is requested before any personalized ad, and you can change it at any time from the menu.
Online play uses an anonymous sign-in: no account to create. Your nickname is visible to the players at your table; you can delete your account from the menu.
Also known as dama, damma, Moroccan dama, Moroccan draughts or ضامة: it is the same game. Here it is El Haj Brahim’s board — the old man of the café, the same one you meet in Ronda 3D and Hez Jouj. The Stockfish chess engine is free software (GPL v3 license).

Ratings & Reviews
- This app hasn’t received enough ratings or reviews to display an overview.
New in Dama & Chess:
• The brawl with El Haj Brahim: sweep the board to provoke him… he stands up, and you settle it outside the café! Win the fight and he keeps only three pieces.
• El Haj Brahim's school: 8 lessons to learn the tricks of the dama masters, and his “Dama Expert” and “Chdad” certificates, stamped by his own hand, to share.
• Your city next to your name online, and the “Greet the table” option.
• Knock-knock: tap the table to hurry a slow player. Your opponent laughs when he traps you and says “koul”.
• Who starts? Drawn at random every game. Nfakh becomes a setting.
• More lifelike characters: hands and legs in one piece, sneakers and belghas, henna for the players who chose it.
• The drink you bought in the shop is served at the table, online too.
• The sound no longer cuts out, and sharper graphics.
• Fixes and small improvements.
